Small, fast, append. Very fast for what it does, which is to append a list of files, sequentially.
Must place files in the same directory (folder).
Does NOT perform a true merge. Only appends multiple files, not merge similar files.
A true merge will reject identical lines from multiple files and only copy from the file that contains that line. This program does NOT do that.
Should be renamed "Free File Append".
Does not tell you where to find the output file. (Mine was in /Temp)
No help file.
Only appends. Does not merge files.
Fast, free, simple.
NO bells and whistles. Extremely simple. Free. Just be sure to place the files you want merged into a folder by themselves.
Small, simple and easy to use.
I've never successfully merged files on this, it freezes at half way and will not advance past there. On the task manager is is using no processor and very little memory.
If it worked this would be a great program, but it doesn't so I give it one star.
Merges files very rapidly. Using to merge over 1000 txt file to one large file.
None that I found.
This is great freeware.
Joins files perfectly, once you figure it out.
1: No instructions, even at the website. 2: Could use a built-in file renaming utility to help correctly order files.
Works great, no need to install, just run the .exe. But, do these things first, before you merge: 1: Put all the files you want to join together into one folder, all by themselves. 2: Name the files so that computer naming conventions put them in the desired order. A batch file-renaming utility is very useful for this. Remember, file number "aa-9" comes *after* file "aa-8999" in computer order, so it needs to be named 0009, and so on. 3: Direct Free File Merge to the right folder. 4: Name your output file. 5. When you can't find your output file after File Merge seems to be done, look for it either in the same directory where the filemerge.exe lives, or on the desktop. Enjoy the result.
easily combine multiple CSV files into one master spreadsheet
none for what I use it for
Simple GUI and it works
It stores the entire text file its working with in memory as it works, rather than working a little at a time. This resutls in a very slow merge for files that are large.
I did multiple text file merges on hundreds of small text files. It did them without a fuss
Though you can write the destination path, an additional Browse and Find button would make it even easier
This software is very basic, but very effective at what it does. I've joined dozens of html files together using this software and it's saved me a number of headaches. I highly recommend this if you need something that'll slap together files without any bells and whistles.
Well, the software is basic. It's somewhat tricky figuring out how to get files to join in a certain order (it goes by alpha-numeric order, I think). It also lacks documentation.
I wanted to merge a few thousand .csv files into one. I tried Free File Merge. It did the job perfectly. Very simple to use.
