Though this utility for password storage gets the job done, some competitors offer a more generous feature set. Fox Password Safe provides a database for Web and e-mail logins, credit card information, and documents, and locks up the data with 256-bit encryption. For added security, it can generate strong passwords and automatically expire passwords at regular intervals. To access an encrypted file, just double-click it in Password Safe. You cut and paste other kinds of data from Password Safe's interface, which is accessible through the system tray. Creating new entries is easy enough, though we wish the help files were built-in rather than Web based. We also should note that the software can't fill in Web forms like some other products in its class. On the upside, the program doesn't take much memory, and it claims to protect Internet Explorer from spyware attacks (we didn't test this feature). Folks seeking hassle-free password storage might like this one, but power users probably will want to peruse their alternatives.

Publisher's description

From Steve Foxover :

Fox Password Safe allows you to safely and easily store all your passwords, Web site logins, and other important information. It uses totally secure AES 256-bit encryption to keep your information safe. Fox Password Safe helps to make online banking and credit card transactions more secure. It can lock down Internet Explorer to prevent spyware from loading when you load a Web site from your list. You can load your Web sites securely and easily from an icon in the Windows system tray. Fox Password Safe can generate secure passwords for you and expire them after your desired time period. It will then remind you to change your password and will automatically back up your old passwords in case you forget them.

Version 2.1 allows you to encrypt documents and files, then hide them to keep them safe. Simply double-click on the listed document to unencrypt and load it.
