In this addictive and well-designed platformer, you must free flies from the grasp of evil little green men. Flyonoid takes place in a frozen arctic world. You control a well-armed robot who must hop from platform to platform, avoiding mines, grenades, and gunfire while you blast away at the aliens. Each board has several jars of flies, and you must tip them all over before you can head to the next level. In terms of graphics, the game is impressive; in particular, the ice sculptures in the background display good detail. The mysterious, often cinematic music suits the game s vibe just fine, though you can turn it down if you find it distracting. The game also lets you choose from easy or regular modes, the former of which offers numerous power-ups and special weapons. Since the regular option seemed pretty tough, we d recommend less-experienced gamers work their way up to that. Unfortunately, Flyonoid s demo restriction seems quite stingy, only letting you play for half an hour. We also wish the game had asked our permission before placing unsolicited shortcuts on our desktop. But if you had as much fun playing this funny game as much as we did, you'll probably be able to overlook those issues.Publisher's description
From Alawar Entertainment :It's 2009, April 38, Monday. No fly with any insect dignity will ever forget this day. This was the day when hordes of alien scum attacked our little green planet. These monstrous green freaks kidnapped all the flies from planet Earth. Right now all the flies from planet Earth are packed inside one-gallon glass jugs and are hidden on five planets. But the flies named John and Hans got lucky. John and Hans stumbled upon the latest model of the alien combat robot. Hans turned out to be a great mechanic. He got inside and started the robot. John, who used to live near the pilots' cafeteria managed to learn the robot's navigation system. They call their robot Flyonoid. Now, with such a powerful weapon in their arsenal, they rush to save their fellow insects.
