Downloading FLV files has never been easier, thanks to FlashGot, an unobtrusive Firefox add-on. Even without a user guide, this simple program will have the least experienced user downloading files in an instant.
Once installed, FlashGot can be accessed through the Tools menu or by the easier method of dragging and dropping a shortcut to your toolbar. If you access it via the Tools menu, you'll find settings for capturing video selections and creating galleries. With both the menu and the toolbar shortcut, you have the option of automatically downloading video files as you find them. Options include selecting your download destination and download manager, as well as adding the file extensions you want to recognize during the download process. During our tests, we had the Autostart feature selected. As we visited our favorite video-sharing Web sites, the program immediately started downloading selected videos. Clicking on the tiny status bar icon introduced our download manager so that we could check the file's progress.
The only help we found was through a forum link offered on the publisher's Web site, but most people won't need any guidance setting up or using FlashGot. It's intuitive and user-friendly, and we recommend it for any Firefox user looking for nearly effortless FLV file downloading.

"Good FLV downloader"

Pros
Does what it says on the box, no fuss, no trouble. Easy to use, misses a beat now and then, but in general is a worthwhile Firefox add-on.
Cons
Too many updates. Far, far, far too many updates, one a week at times. If the developer were to restrict updates to a maximum of once a month (or less if possible) it would be much easier to live with.

"Killed my Firefox installation"

Didn't work at all.
Cons
On trying to download a file Firefox froze and could not be started again. After manually removing Flashgot (oder better Trashgot) all was fine again.
Summary
If you're intending to install this addon, make a backup of your profile first! My true rating would be no star.

I like the interface, has just about all the info you could want. Has many options and is fairly easy to use.
Cons
It won't do resume on basic downloads. It indicates that a site supports resume and goes through the motions but never updates past where it stopped. It will do resume on torrents correctly.
