the fastest file renaming utility I ever seen
nothing i found
Rename files quickly...
and the support is good
Stable, comprehensive and does what it says with a variety of excellent options. I do suspect that some users here don't understand the sometimes logical/mathematical task and thinking that has to happen before committing to any batch-renaming process. I have used it to manage entire media servers, software and web sites I designed and it never failed me (well, except for the times I wasn't careful and didn't back up the files before renaming them or changing their date, etc.)
usability could be stepped up a bit. This isn't the best interface. The process is not obvious at all and the design of the interface is very 1998-ish...
Simple to use with a wide range of name change possibilities. It has been used in major revamp of my last 25 years of files including most file types.
The program is not used often now but cost of the Upgrade was negligible, the cost at the outset is low and the free Upgrade period is excellent.
Take a trial and check it out, fantastic value.
PS. The developers are NOT paying me for this message.
Like most software capable of doing a good job it has a learning curve. A little effort put in will be rewarded.

I should have mentioned that this review was for File & MP3 Tag Renamer running on Windows XP Pro SP3 RC1, with a fresh installation I had nil problems whatsoever.
Easy to use
Didn't work - no pros
I clicked "Apply" to change the file names - nothing happened. I clicked "Preview" and no preview was provided for the new filename. In short, the program did nothing! ................
I have several thousand mp3 files which have proper ID3 tags, but disorderly filenames. I was hoping to rename my files using the descriptions encoded in the ID3 tags. As I said, the program was non-functional, despite a seemingly successful installation and despite a functioning interface. For background: I am running a licensed copy of Windows XP with all of the latest updates as of Dec 22, 2006. I am also running Symantec AntiVirus (latest updates)............ I hope this program works more successfully for others.
I purchased this product to help me manage my 90,000 plus photo files.
Does not recognize 'intuitive view' of files. Meaning that if you have named files with the windows xp renamer you will NEVER see them in intuitive order - (10), (100), (1000) will be together rather than (10) being followed by (11) - etc. Thus if you need your photos to be sequential after the 'rename' you're up a creek.
Does not allow you to move files in the set up window to correct this.
The customer support is next to none, borders on rude.
Programme is nothing that you can't find for free on the net.
This program does excatly what it intends! It was perfect for my use. I was redesigning my homepage, and needed to mass rename a bunch of graphic files I had. I wanted to see if there was something which could do the job easy and effective. After a while I went for this program, and now I am overwhelmed. It's just great. I recommend everyone who needs to rename a lot of files easy and fast, to use this great program!
I found this file renamer to be the best I've used in its category. Extremely fast and flexible in renaming multiple files. This one has it all. After a short learning curve you'll be renaming files faster than you've ever dreamed of. It also reads your MP3 tags from your songs, a very helpful feature in renaming your MP3's.
This program includes all the stuff you've ever dreamed of. For all you people who have searched forever in vain for the ultimate renaming (also id3) tool, you've found it ! This program takes only about 2 minute to learn all there is about. It has everything that a file renamer must have, and more!
Very difficult to get any kind of results for what you want to use it for.
I wanted to use it to rename some mp3s according to their ID3 tag. Using the features available it should be perfect for me, but they didn't work properly at all:
- The replace spaces with underscores actually replaces them as hyphens - totally confusing
- when you are adding enumeration to the filenames it will not put a space afterwards.
- the option "all lowercase" doesn't work
Basically I wanted a filename like this: -
But I end up with this: -
This program might be good in the future when the writers fix these things, but until then, it's just a waste of time and space.
