  Pros

  A powerful, yet tiny, program that is basically a sound recorder but with enough features and options to be a very versatile audio solution. It has the standard stuff, such as choosing mp3, ogg, wav, bit depth, quality hz, etc.. It's the intuitive layout that allows you to master this program within minutes that makes FairStars a fantastic program. The feature that put it over the edge for me is it's silence detector which lets you change the length and sensitivity of its detection. I've used silence detectors with recorders, but none has been more successful than this. I use this recorder primarily for recording free streams and podcasts. The silence detector comes in handy as it splits the songs into proper tracks so I don't have to go back and "chop up" a single recording.

  I just don't give 5 stars to any program you have to pay for...
