My USB Epson Perfection 1240u scanner hardware and drivers installed easily enough, but the USB connection has been a source of frustration using Windows ME with an error message while pre-viewing along the lines of "Scanner unavailable, check connection". The scanner worked very well under Windows 98 (all types of image scans), and if anyone can help me figure out the USB situation under Win ME that would be swell! Epson tells me it's a problem due to my VIA Tech PCI to USB driver, but I got the motherboard's EPROM flashed with the latest ViaTech BIOS by my reseller and that has not solved the problem. My USB ports work well, anyway, with a cable modem I just got... EmmanuelVitrac@yahoo.com Thx!

I get a error message when scanning. Epson Twain 5 Scanner failed to send image during scan. When this happens I need to reboot the system in order to open twain again. Not good. I just bought the Epson Perfection 1640SU Photo and cannot use it.

This driver does not work with the Epson Perfection 1240U Scanner...and epson has not updated this site with it. I am very disappointed in Epson, as it is not very user friendly when it comes to installing or uninstalling driver software.
