I don't understand the people who say it "does the job" - it does not!....Perhaps they don't realize what a proper icon is supposed to be. A proper icon must have a transparent background, which is why this thing fails. I tried this applet about two years ago with Vista, it didn't work then and it doesn't work now with Win7. I tried to make a icon with the "transparent" button checked and with it unchecked - I also tried using all types of images (png,jpg,bmp etc.) - non of it worked. The finished icon should have a transparent background - not black. There is NO combination of settings or images that works properly - it fails.

Windows can see and use the icons, but other programs I tested it with (Icon Sushi and Object Dock) could not see them.
Summary
It is a nice program that has all the basic features you could want including setting a transparent color. You just load a picture and save it as an icon file. I did it with a full-sized photo and the pic came out nicely as an icon. It also looks and works well in windows XP.
Unfortunately, this is tarnished by the fact that icon files it saves came out blank if used with Object Dock. This is makes me concerned that it could have other compatibility problems (such as showing up in programs where you load up files and it represents them as icons). I also found that I couldn't open Icon files made in Easy Picture2Icon in Icon Sushi (a competing Icon file making program).
I cannot complain about the simple useful interface. It does it's job. Unfortunately, having compatibility trouble with can pose trouble now or in the long run.
I found Icon Sushi to have more features (Including making a one-file Icon Library Windows can use) and the .ico it made it did not have the compatibility problems.

It does what it says and great for those who wants to make their own icon. For those who are using earlier version of windows (98,2000,XP and etc.), you can use this software to make your icon like the latest windows 7.
