Easy Picture2Icon is a tool for converting images or digital photos in to Windows icons. Easy Picture2Icon make it possible to use any graphical editor to produce icons. Because Easy Picture2Icon has the ability to convert digital pictures in the formats BMP, GIF, JPEG, JPG and PNG to Windows icons (ICO).
Version 2.5 add a new function for keeping the images original shape in the icon.

Almost anyone who dabbles in customizing a computer eventually wants to create her own icons. This simple tool provides a fast way to change ordinary digital pictures into Windows icons. The interface is extremely simple--all a user has to do is drop a file into the main window, and select the desired icon size.
Users can also add a transparent color layer or compress the output. The software supports most common graphic file formats, including BMP, GIF, and JPEG. With little flash or advanced features, this free software does its one thing well, and we would recommend it to computer users who are starting the process of personalizing their desktops.

Pros: Firstly it works fine with Vista 64. The icon it creates looks exactly like the original image. Small file that just works great.

Summary: I was looking for a special software to convert png images to ico After I tried some options with bad results finally I found Easy Picture2Icon software and I converted the images that I wanted in only seconds.

Pros: Does the job well and accepts several image formats.
Cons: May distort the picture if it's not exactly square. I would have liked to be able to choose only a part of the picture for the icon.
