This step-by-step file duplicate finder will help you quickly locate and delete redundant files; however, we recommend that novices proceed with caution when it comes to deleting any found duplicate files.
Easy Duplicate Finder uses a three-step process to quickly and easily locate and remove duplicate files from your system. Simply add the folders you wish to scan and define the file mask (all files, JPEG, MP3) from the drop-down menu. Click the Start button in Step 2 and the program very quickly displays any found duplicates. While the program is scanning your system, you can actively watch the numbers of files scanned, original files to duplicates, and the space used by said files. Using the export button, we were able to easily export the program's findings. Finally, we had to decide what to do with the files. We had the option of deselecting all files, renaming them, moving them to a folder, and deleting selected files. We went through each option, and all worked perfectly. The Settings menu gives you two file-comparison options (CRC32 and byte-by-byte) and help is available through the publisher's Web site.
The program does add extra desktop icons without asking and we had to manually remove some items after the program was uninstalled. Still, Easy Duplicate Finder proved to be a very thorough and reliable file-management tool, but because of the risk of accidentally deleting important files, we only recommend this program for more-experienced users.

Summary
After you use it and then try to remove it and all its adds and file and updaters etc, you might as well reinstall windows!

"I had this up and running in minutes."

Pros
Tried it, Liked it and bought it. Cleared gigabytes of duplicates from my drive. My wife copies things several times over. It's not her fault, she isn't as familiar with computers as I am. I have a large drive 2TB but she copies large files, and almost filled it up. Now I check every week and keep the drive pretty clean.

"Concept great, implementation poor, pricing insulting."

Pros
Finds duplicates. This may take a day, but that is OK if doing byte-by-byte on a 1.5 TB external drive.
Cons
Often running into "access violation..." error dialog boxes when attempting to delete large number of files at the end of a day's worth of scan. The only solution is force-closing the program and so will loose all of the duplicate list - need to re-run again (maybe in a smaller set of data), hoping error message does not happen.
Summary
Trial version is useless to test the true power and limitations, do not even bother to waste time. Full version (for $ 30 per ONE year and per ONE computer), more or less works as advertised but if you scan large amount of data, for example anything from ~100 GB to > 1 TB, find the duplicates (will take 12-20 hours!), try do delete/rename/move them, the you often will receive the error message: access violation... This will make you stuck , can not cancel, close, quit or skip. Your only choiuce is to terminate the EasyDuplicateFInder from task manager and loosing all of the results you just spent the last 12-20 hours.
Due to this failure at the very end of scan + the fee is only for one year and one computer, I do not think this is a reasonably designed and priced program. -
"Trial version crippled, sleazy buy now popups"

Seems fast, has searches by name, ext, size, CRC, and byte by byte. Fairly self-explanatory, although auto-select showed no visible results of what would be auto-selected or what the action would be.
Cons
I searched my 250Gb USB drive in less than 10 minutes. It found lots of duplicates. It was unclear how to resolve them. The online manual explained things. I ran a second search, but found the trial version only resolves 10 predefined file types. I narrowed my search and reran. The program then told me my evaluation period has ended. Please register now.
Good or not? Don't know, but these folks tell you real quick to pay up or leave. My total involvement with the program: maybe 25 minutes. It did nothing, showed me nothing, and asked 3 times for money. I'm sure they're customer service must be great. I closed and uninstalled it. A trial version ought entice potential customers, not **** them off.
I'll find something else.Summary
If you actually have a specific, involved use for this duplicate finder that goes beyond jpg's or mp3's, it doesn't look to me like you'll find a solution here.

"It wasn't so easy"

I probably didn't understand what it was asking of me. I thought I could find something that could do this for me without wanting me to go into each specific type of software on my computer.
Cons
I had a hard time trying to figure out what it wanted from me.
Summary
I am glad that I found auslogics as fast duplicate file finder and easy duplicate file finder didn't do it for me.
