CNET Editors' review
This engaging game is designed to teach kids how to play chess, although we found a minor glitch during our tests. Dinosaur Chess' colorful graphics are top-notch, and the well-designed interface and simple instructions make it easy for kids to follow. You can choose from various playing modes, but the trial version limits you to two lessons and two games. In our tests, after reaching checkmate, Dinosaur Chess didn't indicate that the game was over, and we could still move pieces on the board. You can restart the game to remedy this, but this seems like a flaw that might confuse younger kids. Much like the key characters in this game, this download is big, coming in at nearly 23MB. The trial restrictions are a bit severe, but Dinosaur Chess is a fun way to teach kids to play chess.
