Publisher's description of Deset Pocket Video Maker
From deset:Deset Pocket Video Maker is a program to create full-length video films for Pocket PC devices in best video and audio quality. Whole movies in full length are now portable onto mobile devices with Deset Pocket Video Maker. Today s Pocket PCs are in the meantime so powerful, that many applications that have been reserved for desktop PCs now run without a problem on those small devices. This includes also the playing of movies in full length. A movie in good quality for example finds place on a 128MB or a 256MB storage card. From now on you watch your movies in the train, on the plain, while waiting for the bus, or simply said -- everywhere where you re heading with your Pocket PC.

Version: Deset Pocket Video Maker 1.5
"Great tool for getting movies onto the Pocket PC!"
Pros: Good is, that you can select many different formats for the movie, and therefore watch the movies with different players on the pocket pc. Also good is, that you can not only convert DVDs but also movies downloaded from the internet!
Cons: Big file to download. In the beginning I did not know which quality settings to make.

"Nice interface; somewhat limited and slow with non-responsive customer service."
Pros: I liked the way the program interface looked, so I purchased the program.
The selections look simple.
Cons: The program looks good, but doesn't deliver the goods. When I started a conversion, the only choice was Windows Media Video (WMV) and Audio (WMA).
The conversion of a 90 minute movie took well over twice as look to convert.
Even though I had MP3 and DIVx codecs installed on my computer, these options were not available. One 30 minute movie had converted the video, but
not the audio. Overall, the program does not deliver. (A shareware program,
such as pocket DVD, had converted a 90 minute movie in under an hour and
the options all worked with no problem.) Besides the problems with conversion,
it took several emails to get ONE reply from DESET and they sent an audio
converison in GERMAN, not ENGLISH. The customer support, one might say,
is virtually nonexistent. Look elsewhere, if you plan on making movie transfers
a part of your pocket pc venue.

"Must pay first, no real demo."
Pros: None, could not try the program without paying for it. Won't pay $25 to find out that I may not like the way it works or that it doesn't meet my needs.
Cons: It does not allow you to try the "from DVD to iPod" function without paying for the whole thing first. Since this is the whole (or most significant) point of the program I don't see how it can be called a demo. In truth I canĂ¢Â?Â?t say the program is faulty because I could not properly test it. However, I felt this was something that should be known beforehand so people donĂ¢Â?Â?t waste their time downloading and installing a faux-demo.
