slow startup really gets annoying if you use it frequently; one shouldn't have to keep in running all the time in order to avoid the unduly long startup time -

Summary
I use this mostly to keep my large photo collection synced up. I've tried other free brands, but this one is wonderful, accurate and lighting fast for my purposes. compares dropbox files with local or wireless storage, and of course, external drives. No problems.

Once in a great while it will abort. But it is very infrequently and I just haven't had a chance to look into it.

Wow... I needed this program. I bought it long before I needed it. It was purchased through one of Macupdates promotions, but it sat on my hard drive for months. Then I needed it, loaded it... and the serial number did not work. The demo mode was so slow and system hungry that I about scrapped the program as a bad investment. Sent a note to the developer, and in 30 minutes I got a new key, a download to the new version and WOAH... all my issues were fixed in under and hour. The working version ROCKS. It just works and works WELL.
Look no further. When a developer is THAT attentive, I will put up with a programs minor issues... and this one has no minor issues. I have the best with Delta Walker and with Deltopia. -

I just upgraded to 1.87 from 1.82 and had a problem with the upgraded version. I wrote to them thinking that I won't hear back for a few days, but within a few hours, I had an answer. I asked them another question, and within 5 minutes, I had the response as well.
Wow! I would call that excellent customer service. It's the service like that that really gives confidence about the company and the program!

I've been using Beyond Compare on the PC side for several years but now have a need to do file/folder comparison in Mac OSX. A simple folder comparison program has been essential when using multiple computers and data backup destinations. DeltaWalker has a clean user interface allowing simple comparisons and file updating between folders on different disks. I use mostly manual file comparisons so that I am aware of file changes, but I'm also finding that the synchronization tools are very useful. I've also been very satisfied with tech support in solving setup problems and recommend it to users who do cross platform computing. -

I am testing the 30-day trial version (downloaded here) and was put off by the windows-like feel at the beginning. After a few minutes though, you really appreciate the simple way the program works. (And though it may be windows inspired it's at least not ugly, if that matters)
If you have large chunks of data and need to compare folders and even MOVE or sync folders, I have found this to do the job reliably and quickly (scanning 1200 files / 100 GB in a few seconds). Folders / Files that are identical are greyed out in the scan result list, different files / folders are bold. A double click reveals their differences (ie in text files).
I shall report back and update this review if I run into serious problems, but at the moment, I look forward to weeding through a few hundred GB of data before archiving it with this software.
