From NCH Software :Debut is a video recorder that lets you capture video files directly on your PC using a webcam (video camera), or capture device (from video). Debut can also capture and record almost anything that can be played or displayed on the computer screen as well as recording audio. The program saves the video on your hard drive as avi, wmv or many other file types. You can also capture a snapshot (video still) from a recording and save it to jpg.

Pros: This is an all around pretty legit program that lets you record your screen, from your webcam or anything else. very easy to use
Cons: every time you close it sends you to its website which is kind of annoying but its free so deal with it

"Great easy-to-use application with a small size."
Pros: Does what it says it will do, capture video from webcams, video capture devices, and computer screens. It automatically detects anything plugged into your computer, so ensure that your device is plugged in before you install the program.
Cons: Some people have had problems with the audio, but as with the video, it's just a matter of setting up the right options. The program doesn't necessarily default to your best settings so you have to experiment a bit, but everything is here.
Summary: This program may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it does exactly what it supposed to do without bombarding you with any ads or spyware. It has all the basic options you'd find in a program you'd pay for. The thing to remember is that this ... read more >>

Version: Debut Video Recording Software 1.47
Pros: It does a great job of recording video, can record video to DVD (although I haven't tested that yet.) This version seems to be working much better that the older ones. Easy to use and a must have application
Cons: Had sound problems in older versions, but a sound/recording dialoge opened. I was able to set Windows Sound/recording settings and set recording levels to highest level - good. Was redirected to website first time I closed debut, but then all fine.
Summary: Does what it says and more. Can capture screen video for training students, and I am looking forawrd to using the video to DVD capture.

Version: Debut Video Recording Software 1.47
Pros: A big load of plugins and they are automatically installed. Very easy to setup, thought the audio settings never kick in.
Cons: Close the program and it automatically opens up their webpage. Even with the sound plugins (which don't seem to like my configuration), this records no sound via my Hercules Deluxe. I have a high-end system, by the way.
Summary: Vista x64 3Ghz, 8GB Ram and other top of the line hardware.
