"A great tool for securing .NET desktop applications"

 |  Version: Crypto Obfuscator For .Net 2011 R3

I have been using Crypto Obfuscator and am very pleased with the features and performance. I can obfuscate a large WPF project quickly with no problems.

To obfuscate the same project with Dotfuscator took hours of setup and debugging.

Crypto Obfuscator has lots of nice features like... encryption of string constants, and breaks Red Gate .Net Reflector on IL decompile.

The only thing I can think of that might be considered a "Con" is that you have to buy the professional version to get most of the great features like string-literal encryption. For me, I was prepared to buy the professional version anyway and I think $300 is a great price for it.

This obfuscator is better than free because of its speed and ease of setup compared to DotFuscator.

Support is great as there is already a new version out. I'm using Crypto Obfucator For .Net v2012. I evaluated the 2011 R3 version and had to install the new version right away in order to use the license that I purchased online. The installed footprint is only 11MB so this was no problem.

"The most Impressive Obfuscator I have seen!"

1. Powerful!, and with all the bells and whistles you can expect in a commercial Obfuscator.

2. Easy to use, and very solid!.
building my game with CO worked 100% on first try without hassle or errors.

3. The price is not to bad, especially not if you can make do with Standard edition(149$), there are much more expensive alternatives that give you far less bang for your buck.

4. Perhaps the most impressive support i have ever seen.
I submitted my Email during registration and the developers contacted me in advance to ask me if i was happy with the product and to ask if there was any problems while trying it out.

I had some miner questions and immediately got a helpful replay, it don't get much better than that.

5. It is worth mentioning, that among the company's that use this product are names like: Blizzard, Ubisoft, DELL, HP, McAfee, and many MANY more... quite an impressive list.

If its good enough for the BIG boys, it is good enough for an indie game developer like me.

1. The only thing that made me a bit disappointed was that i am forced to buy the Enterprise edition(399$) to make CO support the XNA framework.

2. There is not much else to complain about, the interface is not to crash-hot and feel a bit out-dated, but on the other hand... it is functional and easy to use.

in the end, if you buy a security product... All you care about is that it gives you the best possible security, graphics is irrelevant as long as it don't hinders you in some way, and in this case it don't.

I only did this review, because i feel the one-star review above was highly unfair.

I have only tested the trial version for a few days, but I was immediately impressed with how easy and powerful the product is.

It seems to have all you could ever want in a obfuscator, and everything compiles without any errors or problems, my current XNA game(the reason I'm trying this product) instantly worked without any problems.

And I have since then decided that i will try and save up to an Enterprise edition.

"product works well, support not so well"

Crypto Obfuscator seems to work quite well. I'm a novice at obfuscation, but CO seems to make enough of a hash out of the code that it would take some major effort to reconstruct the source.

1. Support is non-existent. I've emailed them several times and always received a prompt non-answer.
2. I bought my copy three months ago. CO considers it too old to upgrade without charging.
3. I needed the most expensive edition.

1. Crypto Obfuscator seems to work well. I was using the community edition of Dotfuscator and wanted something stronger. I am pleased with the functionality.

2. Support is poor. There's no other way to put it. Fast response time, but the response is useless.

3. I needed the Enterprise edition because the other editions are too stripped down to be useful. The web site is horrible, so there was no easy way to figure that out in advance. It was very difficult to do an accurate comparison to other obfuscators.

4. Forget about free upgrades. You're done with the CO supplier once he takes your money.
