  It is just what i nead for cost control over my 1 gb/month dsl line. But I overlooked that it is not compatible with Win 98... ok, a pretty old thing, but here still running ;)

  I find it useful to know how much data I've downloaded in a day, but despite the number of utilities out there that are designed to do this, it's surprisingly hard to find one that works well. Many of them misleadingly report data sent via the localhost loop - data that really isn't of much interest in most cases. CostAware is excellent - it's not very feature-rich, but I find that a *good* thing, as it runs in my system tray without me even noticing. It accurately reports data downloaded from the internet, and divides this into domestic and international traffic. They could probably do with adding in a feature to reset the counters at intervals other than one month, but for a free download meter, you really can't beat it.

  I recommend this to everyone that are charged for download from other countries or even on lan. This Icelandic company, netinternals is on the way to the top!
