This audio application breaks no new ground, but it does win our praise for its ease of use. Cool MP3 Splitter s main job is simply to chop MP3 files into smaller segments, but you ll also find a tool for joining as many songs as you want. If you re merging tunes, you can specify the audio quality of your new file, but you can t alter the bit rate when slicing up MP3s. Splitting files is an intuitive process, as a step-by-step-wizard walks you through the process of adding a track, then choosing whether to split by selection, size, or time. If you pick the first option, Cool MP3 Splitter will play the song and let you click as many breakpoints as you like. However, users who prefer other audio codecs are out of luck, as this application only supports the format found in its title. If you just need a quick way to chop and join audio files, Cool MP3 Splitter gets the job done.

Cool MP3 Splitter allows you to split an MP3 file into smaller files or join MP3 files to make a longer piece of music. You can split your tracks three ways: by section, by time, or by size. Whichever you choose to use, you should find it useful for creating audio CDs from your collection, and you can break up live songs from a recording of a concert into individual tracks. Also, the fade-in/-out feature can smoothly goes from full volume to zero volume or from zero volume to full volume in zero to 30 seconds.

Pros
Does what it says in a simple interface.
1) Splitting by size is the most common option I use.
2) The Joining feature is nice, but takes a bit to get used to it.
Cons
Select your source file, but be mindful of the bitrate.
1) If you split by time, its calculations is based on 128 kbps, so, if you have a 64 bitrate file (common audio book) that the calculations are way off.
2) Adding "break points" by selection, is a tedious task.
3) 7-day trail isn't long enough for most people to evaluate this program.

Pros
Yea, it splits and it joins. It joins and it splits. But there are tons of other programs, with a lot more features that do this plus more. However, I give it 3 stars because it does what it says, doesn't seem to have any conflicts with my computer, and uses a small amount of computer resources while active.
Cons
I don't see why someone would pay for this when there are other programs that do a lot more. My advice to the creator is to make it free but with ads in the corner that don't bother anyone but may pick up some pay-per-clicks.

"Not all options work"

Pros
I like the price, and the UI is clean and simple to use. The "Split by Size" option worked very well.
Cons
The slider bar for breaking the mp3 apart didn't work. I tried email support, but the message came back bounced. The Split by time didn't work either.

Cons
I paid for this product via paypal a week ago and still haven't received the license to unlock the software! Their support email address comes back as undeliverable and they ignore emails I've sent to them at other addresses. Don't get screwed like I did!
