Pros
The screenshots look good.
Cons
It won't install on my Windows 7 - asks for .NET 3.0 which I cannot install (I tried) because I have a more recent version.

Pros
nice tool for mindmapping
Cons
window7 support is missing
looks to be abondoned by the designer, a pity
Summary
very nice tool for mindmapping and knowledge storage. Unfortunate it does not install rightaway on Windows7. A workaround is to install it on a XP/Vista PC and copy the Intalev directory (from the Program directory) to a USB stick. After transferring to the Program directory on the windows7 system, jus create a link the the file Cayra and it works (compatability mode needs to be changed on 'updater' and 'cayra' executables).
Works flawless....
Why is the source code not transferred to the open source area ? Or is thi snot possible ?

small update : you can also link to webpages, link to files and automate sending of emails. Just use the HLINK parameter. A description is given in the help menu. Works fine.

Pros
Good overview, nice graphical environment, seems to have all features you need and not more (you won't use anyway).
Cons
Unlogical usage, slows down rapidly when working with 20 nodes+, input fields disappear often if you just move the mouse about some pixels away, not able to re-type links between nodes once they are linked, note-nodes don't pop up, no zoom function.
Summary
All in all it seems to be a quite good piece of software and it could be nice when creating simple maps, but if you like do work professionally: forget it! Even if it's free.

Pros
Color Coded
Way, Way Simpler than other Mind Mappers you'll try
It just works
Great for all uses, not focused on a specific category
Cons
Mind Map can get tangled in "free view"
Sometimes lags because of intensity of graphics
Company who made it gone, No hope of updates
Summary
Perfect for the beginning scatterbrain. I use it personally to organize my business clients ideas and files. I keep contacts, meeting notes and all other related things in the map.

Pros
Easy to use
Plenty of options and features
Templates are very handy
Great for laying out previously hand scribbled notes
Cons
Not good if you just want to get a lot of ideas down quickly - the main reason for brainstorming.
Summary
Very useful if you need a professional looking diagram that other people can view.

Pros
Easy to learn.
Cons
my 1gb ram notebook slows down with large brain map.
Summary
Loved the product. one improvement would be a print mode that would let user choose which parent/child groups to print on seperate pages, as well as an option to include all side notes and info for each bubble. Great job with this product overall. It has great potential!

Pros
Great to work with; the best feature a mindmapper can have. Free too!
Not too much clutter (see above).
Cons
Seems to be offline as a project.
Win7 not supported in standard package (see summary).
Link editing would be nice and file attachment, and layers (link-able).
Summary
A small edit of the msi with Orca and it installs fine on Win7
[ "VsdLaunchCondition -> (FRMWRK3 AND VersionNT<600) OR VersionNT=600" - make "600" > "601" ]
It is a shame Cayra has gone (except for a few download sites, e.g. here) Perhaps it will reappear as a commercial app... but I think it would spread like wildfire as donation-ware, just tell your mates.

If anyone has Cayra installed on Vista, and is having problems installing on Win 7, a simple Copy and Paste of the two Intalev/Cayra folders from their 'Program Files' and 'C:\User\...yourname...\AppData' locations, from Vista to Win 7, seems to work.
This might well work on earlier versions, such as XP, but I have no experience of those.
Cayra saves maps to its 'Program Files' installation folder by default. It is possible to save them elsewhere, in a location of your choice.

Truly great software!
Worked well on Vista, having problems on Win 7, though.
Not a programmer, so don't really understand your "Summary".
Additional enlightenment would be much appreciated!
Pros
It works really well and it's easy to use. The layout is the best looking amongst others, making it easier to remember thoughts. Just the layout I wanted!
Cons
Nil - couldn't ask for more fro a freeware.
Summary
Compared all the Mind Mapping freeware on CNet. This is definately the best looking. What more can one ask for?

Pros
Solid & intuitive interface provides low threshold to use, which essential to capture fleeting thoughts. Categorization, clouds and excellent searchability means that information can be easily retrieved even in very large and complex mindmaps.
Cons
- Large mindmaps can make interaction really slow.
- Would be nice if clouds could overlap
- I'd like the ability to lock a subset of nodes. Static mode always shows the entire map.
- A function to "disentangle" static mode would be very useful!
Summary
Really efficient, fun and useful way to build a personal knowledge base and to clarify one's own conception of a subject matter. Only needs a few boosts (se "cons") to become revolutionizingly good!
