Adobe Photoshop faces a new and worthy adversary in Canvas. After a poky installation comes a poky launch. You'll immediately see why it takes so long, though, when the program window opens. The sheer number of drawing, image-editing, and publishing features seems endless, too numerous to address in this limited space. Suffice it to say that whatever you can imagine doing to an image, you can do it with this software. Despite all the features, the software operates quickly and provides a welcoming interface. The only problem is that there are so many tools, you need to set your monitor to quite a high screen resolution to see them all. The scope and feature set mark Canvas as a tool for professionals.Publisher's description

Version: Canvas 9.0.2
"Tell me what you can't do with this?"
Pros: To be short: very good program. It knows all the common (GIF, JPG, etc.) and many other file types, openable file extension number is 61+all files, nice. With Canvas you can also open CorelDRAW files so are able to switch between the two applications anytime (besides i don't know if CorelDRAW can open Canvas files or not).
It's possible to run with lower memory - which is a good point -, however, i'd suggest 512MB from DDR type next to an XP + your own memories.
Working with Canvas is very easy and it knows all the tricks the basic applications can give you and over all, it'll triple this knowledge. From this program my favourits are the arrows and the object backgrounds (so easy to access and use).
Cons: The offline help is missing - tried this demo - so you can only work online if you need help.
It seems the installer is too simple, only a launch icon is placed to the Start menu, so you won't get author url, removeing, help, etc. links.
It is possible that i miss something but i can't use/test save.
I couldn't understand why the dimension tool shows me another measures when i resize it's high (probalby another feature i don't know yet).
When i've tried the update process and the program couldn't get it's INI file from it's home page, i tried to close it: the program asked 3 times from me wether i want to close it... Fun one? Too bad i was able to bring this one up only once. Then i've closed by x, the program asked if i want to close the update process and i sad "No" (by the way, the other option was "cancel") and the updater windows closed... Fun two?
Actually, the first two problems caused that i only gave four stars instead of five but this is a decent solid program :).

Version: Canvas 9.0.2
Pros: I like this image editing ware. And thought I have a few of the biggies, I have added this one to my design arsenal cause its still fills a void in the creation of super-looking graphics for web pages and off-line publications. I may not be for someone just starting off in design cause its so robust with features, but its a good challenge if one is willing to take the time to learn and appreciate the awesome capabilities of a top-tier product. Highly recommended!
Cons: For the professionals, but worth the while if one is willing to be a serious designer.
