CNET Editors' review
Comma separated value (CSV) files store tabular data as text files. Lots of programs use them, including spreadsheets, e-mail clients, and databases. CSVed is freeware that can manipulate any CSV file with any separator. It can add, delete, edit, and insert items; import and export data; remove duplicates; join and split columns; add, delete, and rearrange columns; search and sort; and more.
CSVed has a full-featured interface with a four-in-one toolbar, a navigation/clipboard sidebar, and a main document view above a handy editing panel that is tabbed with all the program's major functions. There's a Font manager, naturally, but we were surprised to see quite a few skins available under the Tools menu, as well as a portable version. CSVed is quite easy to use. We opened a single-column CSV file and started by adding a second column. We clicked the Column Tab, selected Add-Insert Column, and entered a Value and Caption; simply "Column 2." CSVed added our new column, which we could edit extensively from the Start and Edit Item tab. Next we joined Column 2 to Column 1 with the Join Column tool, which also gave us the option of inserting text between the columns. This tab also let us split the file and columns in various ways. Other tabs let us add leading zeros; modify items with prefixes, suffixes, and other values; filter text and remove duplicates; and save, sort, and search items. An XML tab let us export CSV files to XML format with various options, while the interesting Fixed Field Length Manager let us configure minimum and maximum field length, set values for all fields and checked fields, and set the minimum space between columns.
If there's something you need to do with CSV files, CSVed seems able to handle it. It's the most capable and comprehensive tool of its type we've come across, yet it's intuitive and well laid out. Since it's free, there's no reason not to avail yourself of its powerful capabilities, even if you only handle CSV files now and then. If CSV files are a regular part of your Windows experience, CSVed is probably just what you've been waiting for.
Publisher's Description
From Thuis:
CSVed allows you to manipulate any CSV file with any separator. CSVed comes instead of CSVdb. The main difference is how CDV files are handled, for more details compare both help files on chapter CSV file format. Some of the features include edit, add, insert and delete items. You can also import, change separator and delete or add columns.
What's new in this version: Version 2.2.1 added split TAB Colum Edit in two TABs and split current file in two or more small files.

"spectaularly slow and bulky"
Version: CSVed 2.2
Pros
there seem to be some features, but I don't think they're useful
Cons
very unintuitive
slow, seems to sort by some columns by default
memhog, a 300 MB file on disk uses up 3.1 GB of RAM
a 600 MB file on disk doesn't work at all
date conversion feature is too limitedSummary
Can't recommend. The problem is that there are seemingly loads of features in this software but they either don't work (e.g. the convert-a-date-column) or they're useless. Also, there seems to be a massive overhead when loading larger files, even though my system has 32 GB of RAM you can't even load a 600 MB file.

"Got lost with the overwhelming UI"
Version: CSVed 2.1.4
Pros
Does so many complex thing, it hard to find the trees because of the forest.
Cons
Glutted with too many features, made it hard to know how it works and how it loads the data and where to find the basic functions. UI TOOO overwhelming to get use too, too many useless settings.
Summary
I did what to go through the stress of learning a new software product. Sorry but is got uninstalled in the first couple of minits.

"Does everything is says-wish all software was like this"
Version: CSVed 2.1.4
Pros
Does everything you could want when it comes to manipulating and editing CSV files. If you have a large database in CSV, Excel can't handle it. This program handled a database I have of 5 million plus records with no problem!
Cons
Can't think of any.
Summary
If you manipulate large data files in CSV format - you need this.

"Used this when file too long for excel"
Version: CSVed 2.0.1
Pros
I had log files that had more rows and/or columns than Microsoft Office could open. CSVed saved me! I used it extensively on files with more than 10,000 rows and dozens of columns. No problems.
Cons
Interface looks a bit dated, and there is a lot to learn. The icons are small and not intuitive unless you already know what they do.
Summary
Recommended for handling large files.

"Easy to Use, Does what I need"
Version: CSVed 2.0.1
Pros
Very easy to open a csv file and view it.
Column Jump nice featureCons
Default Color, but easy to change
Summary
I typically was viewing csv files in notepad++, but this makes everything so much easier. I haven't experience any issues with the code and am extremely happy with it. I've actually shared the tool with the rest of my team and everyone is happy with the tool.
The default color is a little too much for me, but it appears that all options are available to customize.
Bottom-line, if you view csv files through notepad or any other text editor you will be happy with this program.
