• Very useful and comprehensive Color Tool

  Pros

  This color tool does a whole lot of things. It's very useful for web designers and developers. I think it's the best color tool out there. It's not quite as easy as some of them, but it does a whole lot more.

  Cons

  It reminds us to donate, but the messages are not obtrusive or obnoxious. And I agree, if we use it we should donate. Then the messages will go away.

  Summary

  This is the best color tool out there, IMO. And, it works on Windows 7. Some of my favorite color tools have bit the dust because they didn't keep up with the OS changes. This one is still hanging in there, so you can count on it for the long term. I use several color tools. This is one of my top favorites because it does some indepth things that a simple color picker cannot do.

  Versatile, logical, easy to use. For identifying colors on the screen, the zoom feature lets you hone in on a single pixel if need be.

  Cons

  It's great that it has an HTML style editor, where you can select colors for background, foreground, links etc and have Bullseye build the tags for you - but it's out of date in that it gives you colors as HTML attributes rather than CSS selectors.

  Summary

  I had been using Colorpad for a couple of years, and liked it but found it limiting. Sometimes I wanted to see a color I saw referenced in a style sheet - i.e., plug in the hex color code and see what it looked like. Also, Colorpad didn't offer enough precision when I wanted to pick out a color from a screen region with many color changes or fine gradations. Bullseye addresses both of these. As mentioned above, you can zoom into a screen region right down to individual pixels and get exactly the color you want. And it's a useful style-building tool as well: You can define colors in several different ways (type in values, use RGB sliders, etc.), build pallettes, save a history of colors, etc. Although it's free software, it does _strongly_ hint that donations are appreciated, when you launch it - but any amount donation will make those messages go away, and either way it's a small price to pay for something so useful.
