"Stay away from this company"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2011.1.0.67
Pros
None that I could find
Cons
Customer service with this company is the worst I have ever seen.
Summary
After paying for this product I could never get ANY support. If you need a good FTP I would recommend any other company than this one.

"2011 Server won't work when installed as a service"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2011.1.0.64
Pros
2010 version worked fine when run as a service on our 2008 server.
Cons
The new upgrade to 2011 (2011.1.0.65) absolutely does not perform when attempting to install as a service.
Summary
I feel I am being somewhat charitable giving 2 stars to the new version. I totally agree with the previous reviewer that the service is seriously lacking. The company's "spam protection" is set such that I had to use alternate emails until I could find one that would receive their "verification" message.
There are obvious problems with the 2011 code. For example the batch files which stop and start the service don't work because the filepaths list "2010" as the target, rather than 2011. These are rather simple, obvious things that make me wonder how carefully other parts of the code were written and/or tested.
I will update/append this review once the issue is fixed, but my workaround is to go back to the 2010 version. -
"The sotware is good, the support SUCKS"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2011.1.0.64
Pros
Works well, but does not honor subscription
One start is to manyCons
The owerner operator seems not to understand customer base.
Summary
Your talking to owner, programmer and the guy answering your emails..I think you're a bit of an ass and I'm ignoring you from now on.
I so agree, Subscriptions are important

"v2.4.0.31 used to work fine. v2010.1.0.43 hopeless."
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2010.1.0.43
Pros
The older v2.4.0.31 worked fine for years, has been very useful. Basic design of original program is superb.
Cons
v2010.1.0.43 has introduced bugs making it necessary to re-install v2.4.0.31. Paid-for tech support not forthcoming on timely basis. No tech support telephone number provided. Author failing to provide paid-for "Protection" and refuses refund.
Summary
v2010.1.0.43 is currently hopeless. Using same setup imported from older version, clients can no longer download from server. Stick with v2.4.0.31 until the author has resolved the big time problem(s) in the newer version and until the author provides a technical support telephone number.
Tests from a remote site using DOS FTP commands do work, proving that settings of ATT residential gateway, XP and application here are correct (contrary to sellers baseless claims). Application still times out with unexplained error messages when remote client is using IE7, IE8 and various widely used download managers (which do work with the older v2.4.0.31 program). The seller/developer has never called into the server a single time to test for himself, even though given URL, Logon and PW. It is urged that the reviewing CNET editor actually test the program with a remote site, report the facts of what he finds and re-rate this program accordingly.

"Horrible client"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2.3.1 build 26
Cons
Terrible support from this company. No recursive deletes: they don't work. Will not upload some files for some mysterious reason.

"Corrupts data with large files. STEER CLEAR OF BULLETPROOF"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2.3.1 build 26
Cons
I just wanted to try to steer people clear of BulletProof. We purchased their BulletProof Server which is advertised as standards compliant.
Our clients were complaining of problems with downloads being corrupted. After 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong we discovered that the problem was with the BulletProof Server and larger files.
We contacted BulletProof and they indicated their 'fully standards compliant' FTP server didn't support files larger than 2.1GB
We asked for our money back all the way up to the owner of the company. He refused the refund even though it was only $39.
Surprising that a company would be unwilling to refund such a small amount of money when they have a huge, unadvertised flaw that corrupts data in transferred files.
Just wanted to let you know that you're really taking your chances if you use a BulletProof product.

"One of the best low priced server apps I've used"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2.3.1 build 26
Pros
This is a VERY solid product. It is full featured, and easy to set up and use. I have a Win 2003 Server box that I use here at home for many things. But when I needed to put an inexpensive server at my parents' house, 5 states away, I decided to try out some low cost options for moving large files. This app worked out beautifully. I use it for doing large file transfers (4 GB SlingBox videos) on a weekly basis, and it has never failed me.
It is easily managed, and has sufficient options to lock the box down.
It has been up and running, continuously, for about 6 weeks now. During that time it has handled about 6 GB of data transfers each week. It has never crashed, and never slowed down.
Cons
I'd love to have the ability to do multipart (parallel) transfers to speed up my downloads. Many FTP clients support the ability to break large files into smaller pieces, and transfer all of them in parallel. Although my client supports this, the Bulletproof FTP Server does not. That's the only "con" that I've come across.

"Works just great for me!"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2.3.1 build 26
Pros
Works just great for me!
-
"Awesome Personal FTP Server"
Version: BulletProof FTP Server 2.3.1 build 26
Pros
In just a few minutes, I was able to start hosting my own files for family, friends from my Cable Modem. Super-fast, stable and small executable. Most of the time, I had no idea people were logged in and downloading files from my computer!
BPFTP Server has really good security with user/group control, allowing my to setup a group of family-members and then give them all accounts. Allowing us to trade pictures, family movies, music; anything we want!
I've used their BPFTP Client for years now and I gotta say, BPFTP Server really ups-the-ante!
Cons
Geez, I can't say there's anything I don't like. They are going out with BPFTP Server PowerPAK which will provide a web-interface to the server; allowing me to remotely create users and manage the server from anywhere in the world. Can't wait for that to come out!
