• Product Needs Updating!!

  Envelopes are a great way to budget. The user interface is fairly easy to use.

  Cons

  The software has not been updated since 2012. There are a number of "bugs" that make use of this software a headache at times. The program uses at least one program call no longer support by the current versions of MAC OS (10.9.5) as evidenced by a review of the MAC console logs. The software crashes periodically after balancing an account but seems to restart okay. This has been reported to the vendor a couple of times, but never corrected. The envelopes will sometimes display one amount as the balance, but when showing Env History of envelope activity, the balance can be different.

  Full takes advantage of the envelope budgeting method yet doesn't leave out important features such as bank reconciliation.

  None that I can think of.

  Summary

  Excellent app for managing your money before you spend it. This app and method of budgeting and spending has saved us many times. I have been using this app for years and it has never failed me. I use it now on my Mac with the iPhone version (Budget Touch) as well so I always have my budget with me and know what I can spend. Great tools!

  I see where this app has an overall 4-star rating. Perhaps then this isn't the app for me to be using - might be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole - iBank might be a better choice for my needs.

• Difficult to use, not intuitive, does not work!

  Responsive support, although they can't help when the program is horribly broken.

  Cons

  Extremely difficult to use; extremely unintuitive. Instructions extremely lacking. Asking support for help gets help, but following their steps leaves you in the dark. How many times have I heard "That's a bug that we already know about"? Lots!

  Summary

  A total waste of money unless your budget plans include being so busy making your program work that you don't have time to go shopping!

  Pros

  Easy setup, very well designed interface, functionality is top notch. Graphical interface is practical and efficient. iPad and iPhone apps are both very good, especially the iPad app. Priced right, free updates, helpful forum.

  Cons

  Graphs in the reporting sections are so-so but the rest of the program is so strong it doesn't matter.

  Summary

  Superior alternative to iBank, YNAB, Quicken, etc. If you want to get a handle on your expenses, 'Budget' is the program to have.

  Pros

  Very good program for monitor household finances. Gives a very accurate and easily drawn together picture of one's finances. I use the program everyday. I use this program more than any other programs than Mail & Safari.

  Cons

  No automatic save function. If the program crashes, you've lost everything. Once, I didn't save for a 1 1/2 months (yes, call me dumb), but that is what happened. To say the least, I was not a happy camper.

  Summary

  Great price for a great program. Heartily recommended. Once you get your head around using the envelope approach, all is great. This program has also matured over the last couple of years. I first purchased the program in its early years but soon decided that it was not ready for daily use. That is not the case now. The developer has listened closely to his/her clients and have developed the program into something to be proud of. Keep up the good work!!!!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I really like this program a lot, find it easy to use, like its proactive capacity to budget, and most importantly Budget has helped me to get out of debt after some lean graduate school years. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone. At the same time, Budget looks like a program from the days of my Commodore Amiga, with an interface that in previous versions looked out-of-date and now with this new version just looks inexcusably bad. To go from an already poor-looking interface to one that is even worse, while other possibilities for working with personal finance are abounding, is really unfortunate. All of these are purely aesthetic concerns, and have nothing to do with the nuts and bolts of this great program, but am I alone here in wishing that Budget would just pay someone who understands design elegance to give the whole thing a facelift? It looks like a joke, and I hope that the developers will take aesthetics more seriously in the future, because underneath the hood lies something really worthwhile.

What I found was a program that really helps you, as it's name implies, to build a good budget and then see how every transaction affects it, in real-time. Main problems with my tight budget are suddenly appearing new expenses. Budget helps me quickly revise my budget by letting me see in one glance where there's some slack (or where i just have to do with less) and quickly finance appearing emergencies. And well. To me â?? heaven sent. There are some things like handling cash which could be better implemented or some eye-candy matters. Over-all it seems everything I need is there.

However, with its recent advances, it has met many of my personal financial needs in a nice package. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but if you are serious about using the program, you shouldnâ??t have any problems understanding the logic of the programs flow. The customer support is stellar! I canâ??t remember getting such great support on any other product that I have ever purchased in my life. The customer support is well worth the price of the software. Also, they are constantly upgrading and fine-tuning the program, month after month. In my opinion, they are a benchmark of customer support. For my personal needs, this program alone is not enough. I still need the online capabilities of a Quicken. However, if you donâ??t do much with online banking and bill pay, then this program should be just fine. Itâ??s too bad there isnâ??t some swift interface between Budget and Quicken. Then everything would simply be perfect!

But once it clicked in my head I realized just how simple it really is. The beauty of this program is it tracks every penny and shows you where your money is going. I love it. Like I said there's a learning curve but it's definitely worth it. Visting the forums and asking questions helped. And the designer was great about answering my questions almost immediately. ANd to be honest any problems I had learning the program were mostly my bad. I hate to read manuals and documents and only skimmed over the Budget docs when setting up my account. If I had done a better job reading things first I would have probably worked things out sooner. I still use Quicken but only as a fall back just in case. But with each month my confidence in Budget is growing in leaps and bounds.
