Publisher's Description
From Michael McCracken:
BibTeX will keep track of both the bibliographic information and the associated files or web links for you. BibDesk's services will simplify using your bibliography in other applications and are particularly well suited for LATEX users. For use with BibTeX and (la)TeX, BibDesk is a GUI front-end for managing BibTeX databases in their original .bib form. Search, organize, and cite with drag n' drop. Publish bibliographies to the web as RSS XML.
What's new in this version:
- Improved BibTeX parse error handling
- Fix MARC XML parsing for XML with additional attributes
- Avoid loss of file location that can happen due to Lion bug
- Ignore linked folders in export of BibTeX and Papers
- Broader support for Web of Knowledge

"Works with TeX, generates .bib, pipelines LyX, great!!"
Version: BibDesk 1.5.3
Pros
Many, many features allow sorting or searching against all attributes. Updates have links to external databases, and can grab the references in .ris format.
Cons
What seems to work best for archives is a single .bib file, but now mine is over 1000 items. Occasionally, it just winks out. There are some "quirks" with importing entries, but this process has been smoother on recent updates.
Summary
I used to edit .bib files in a text editor. BibTeX let me forget those days!

Cons
Nothing worth noting

Even 1.2 was almost perfect, this version has some cool new features (direct import from PubMed, for example works great for me) -
"yes"
Version: BibDesk 1.2.6

If you use BibTex you need this program.
If you don't, you need to use bibtex so you can use this program.
Anyone who uses LaTeX at all. This makes references management a breeze. I don't know how I would get along without it.
Thanks. -
"Great application"
Version: BibDesk 1.2.5
Summary

Makes the usually annoying tasks of arranging references, related pdf files and urls, and the writing of the bibtex file into pleasure. The recent features of importing/exporting various formats and automatic cite key generation are great. The recent versions are very stable. The price is great too. -

"Great application"
Version: BibDesk 1.1.6

As a PhD student in finance, I've found BibDesk indispensable. It auto-files journal articles, generates cites, and helps me keep track of what I've read/annotated. Without it, I'd be significantly less productive and organized. -
"Wonderful!"
Version: BibDesk 1.0RC2

If you use BibTex you should absolutely get this. Best analogy I can think of is iTunes for references (including managing files in an intelligent way). -
