Remove the detritus of Windows with this very helpful freeware. Baku's interface is a lesson in clean, efficient design, and cleaning up your computer is easily completed using the three wizards to remove unwanted files, invalid Registry keys, and Most Recently Used lists.
This flexible program allows you to search for specific junk file types and easily exclude folders or drives from the scan. Results can be sorted a number of ways, with buttons to select (or deselect) all items for deletion. One oddity: Instead of going back to the main interface Baku completely closes if you cancel a search.
This freeware clean-up tool is powerful enough for system administrators but easy enough for the intermediate or Registry-savvy user.

Baku allows you to search for system registry errors and unneeded files that can be safelly removed. Baku deletes empty folders, 'History' folder contents, 'Recent documents' folder contents, 'Temp' folder contents, temporary internet files, cookies. Searches Windows log files, shortcuts to missing files and folders and user specified file types. Registry scan removes unused and obsolete keys, including ActiveX/COM, Application Paths, Fonts, Help files, Icon files, Sound files, Uninstall Programs and Windows Installer. The registry is automatically backed up before any changes are made. Implements the standard DOD 5220.22-M, to give you confidence that once deleted, your file data is gone forever (if Eraser is installed it will be used instead). Clears MRU lists from many applications including Media Player, eMule, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce, and WinZip.
What's new in this version: Version 4.3.4369 added several new programs to MRU List detection.

How CNET awards a 5 Star rating to this program beats me as it is not even worth a single star. The only thing good about the program is its interface. Watching it search for junk (especially registry) is like watching grass grow. I cancelled the unneeded file operation and found my previously empty Recycle Bin filled with junk!!! Luckily, I had taken a backup prior to installation but still did not have the nerve to try deleting anything from the searches. This is a critical flaw in the program, and forget about getting a star, it should have never been in CNET in the first place!!!
Guys, stay away from this one. There are far better, faster and safer cleaners out there.
