With this simple utility, you will need only minutes to generate HTML indexes for folders on your PC. AutoSite handles subfolders, creating an index file in each and automatically refreshing it on a regular basis. The indexes let visitors browse folders and sort files by name, size, and date. You can specify file types to be included in the index, such as only MP3s. You can't exclude files by type, however. To customize the look of files and folders, you will need basic knowledge of HTML and JavaScript. The program works quickly but has stability problems. For instance, when generating pages, it slowed our PC considerably and didn't respond to our clicks to allow us to see the operation progress.
We couldn't evaluate AutoSite's ASP-creating functionality because it's disabled in the trial version. Webmasters who need to share a lot of files might save time with AutoSite.
Publisher's description
From Empiresource :AutoSite was developed to help Web developers build file lists rapidly without the need for manual data entry. This tool can be used to create HTML or ASP Web pages that list files on your hard drive. The AutoSite software will go into the directory you specify and list all files contained within it, create links to the subfolders, and list all files in the subfolders by a file extension you specify. The end result is an HTML/ASP table with links to each file and subfolder, rendered automatically by AutoSite.
The pages will contain the necessary HTML/ASP and JavaScript code, so your lists can be sorted and color-coded to distinguish the differences among folders and files. No database is necessary. Features a timer so you can automate creation of the Web pages to make HTML pages more dynamic without using ASP. Dependency files were included in an install package so it will work on most operating systems. Increased error handling has been added.
