"Excellent compatibility with MS Office"

Pros
The high compatibility is a huge plus, if you've done your homework you know there are formatting inconsistencies with the free office suites available out there. If you need to exchange data with people who use Microsoft Office at all then this is a concern. Also you can install a portable version on a USB drive.
Cons
For the practically CONSTANT sale price and upgrade offers, none. For comparison, yes Kingsoft has the new ribbon style interface (and the traditional too) that is in newer Microsoft office, I guess if you like that then that's a deficiency with this one but the reason Kingsoft even includes a choice of BOTH is because so many people are used to navigating the old way.
Summary
I can only conclude CNETproductions just does not pay attention, there are sales on this product all the time - it is currently $15. Also if you register your free version you will INEVITABLY get an upgrade offer at a MUCH reduced price, as Ashampoo is known to do on a FREQUENT basis.
Also of note: This is actually the same as Softmaker Office. Again, you can get the free (they give away older versions) or trial version and there is a VERY good chance they will offer you upgrade to the full product at a discount. -

Ashampoo may be good in features, but many brands with the price is better. For example, WordPerfect is way better. Kingsoft Office 2012 is $60, and has a better interface, PDF convertor and a encryption option. I've recommend Kingsoft office 2012 to those who are thinking to using Ashampoo. However, Ashampoo Free is a alternative to those who use LibreOffice and OpenOffice.

I actually like this software better than Microsoft Office, Open Office or Libre Office. I have tried them all and this is the one I like best. It is easy to use and is, I think, a great value for the money. I had no problem whatsoever with the installation of this software. It couldn't have been easier.

Fisrt up I am a long time Ashampoo software user and this would have to be the worst piece of **** I HAVE EVER TRIED TO INSTALL.
It will not even install just keeps on poping up a window that the install key in wrong and, there support is even worse (hopeless). Do yourself a favour and buy Microsoft office 2010 or corel at least they install. -

I currently have Ashampoo Office 2010. Website said I would be able to install and try the 2012 version without affecting the 2010 version but during the install the program said the 2010 version had to be uninstalled. Did not want to lose the 2010 version so I aborted the 2012 version.
