Ant Movie Catalog launches a large window with several fields ready to receive info about the DVDs or CDs you want to inventory. The large number of fields may be intimidating at first, but because of the range of info you can enter into each record, both novices and completists will appreciate this app. The type of info you can include are media label, source, original title, translated title (for foreign films), director, producer, actors, country, year, URL, description, video format, languages, audio format, length, rating, date added to collection, and more. We also liked that we could include the names of borrowers to whom we might loan a DVD or CD.
This free app performed very well during our tests. It responded quickly to our clicks and keystrokes, and we liked the ease in importing information and pictures from outside the app into a record. True cinephiles will appreciate being able to sort records according to 27 categories. We were pleased at the completeness of data Ant Movie Catalog supports--all without the user having to learn to build an Access database. We recommend it to everyone who owns so many DVDs he or she can't remember them all.

An unofficial version (Ant Movie Catalog Unofficial 3.7.0.1) has been released recently fixed some bugs and adding a lot of nice features like Thumbnails viewer, HTML template viewer, etc.
In addition, it is 100% compatible with older versions.
The main changes affected by the unofficial version 3.7.0 (27/08/11) from version 3.5.1:
- Grouping has been improved to take into account the different values of multiple fields (ex: champs Category)
- Add 'Sort by' menu like 'Group by' menu to sort movie list easier.
- Add 'Thumbnails Viewer' to display movie list as thumbnails.
- Add a HTML viewer to display information of movies according to HTML template selected
- Ability to display the list across the width of the screen.
- Add random button to select a movie in the list randomly.
- Add keyboard shortcut CTRL+T to expand all movies in groups and CTRL+SHIF+T to collapse them.
- The problem that prevented to clear the date on some operating systems (Windows Vista, 7) has been fixed.
- Fix some missing translations.
- Fix some minor bugs.

Was great at first. I entered over 500 movie titles and while the reports function never quite worked right, at least I could tell if I already owned a move before buying it. Suddenly today, it isn't downloading any info about the movies..
Cons
After investing many ours entering movie titles and downloading info, it suddenly stopped downloading info.

It will provide you with a lot of information about your movies. Though, more info then I would need. That is if it works?

Did not work for me. Built in scripts did not provide any info and I was not interested in manually tracking down all the different fields of data.
Summary
If this programs works for you, I could see where many people might like it. If it had worked for me I still feel it provided more information then I was interested in having. Personally, I like to use "My Movie Library". It provides me with just the info I want and I like the feature that allows me to play a movie stored in my hard drive right from the program.

Pros
Ant Movie used to allow links to online sites which would download additional movie info and pictures. Most of the links didn't work and the interface was horrible. Moreover, none of it works in 64bit Windows.

It is easy to use. has a lot of good features. Shows about anything you need to describe your movie.

for some reason it lost all my info onetime. but i had e-mailed most of it to friends so i didn't have to do all of it over.
