You can challenge your computer thanks to its artificial intelligence or somebody else in a local game or a network game across the internetOne of the most interesting aspects of this game is its simple and intuitive interface of which every section can be customized to your liking. All the colors that are used to draw the game board can be changed to create something unique. On top of that you can also choose between 18 chess pieces sets with which you can play. You can also modify the color of the pieces which allows you to create a totally new and original interface.

Forget Deep Blue. The real fun in chess has always been in playing a true human opponent, who wavers and makes mistakes like you do. AlphaChess allows you to do just that, playing another live person over the Internet or over a local network. The interface is very simple, without flashy graphics, but you can select different colors for the board and choose from 20 different chess sets with different pictures for pieces. While playing, you can text chat with your opponent. There is no single-player version in this game--just like real chess, you have to find a real opponent and play online. But that's a whole lot easier than hanging out in your local coffee shop waiting for another chess lover to sit down for a match.

  "Very nice... perfect chess game to play. All in one, perfect..."

  Pros: Wow!!! all the publisher's description is in the program. This is the one I've been looking for. Recommended for all chess addict, and chess fanatic. Small but terrible. And customized your board, pieces and others, on want you really want. And it's FREE, and has UPDATE. What can you and I ask for more...

  Cons: My only suggestion or additional for this program is to have or capable to play or adopt other engines available in the internet, or provide strong engines. In long time the engine you provide in this program will be boring to challenge.

  But still, it's perfect to me...

  Version: AlphaChess 3.2.6

  "Challenging"

  Pros: I have expert here who rates it excellent

  Cons: I lost it in a PC crash and had trouble dloading but we are up and running again

  Summary: It is nice for me to enable the light blue theme which I prefer as it is easy to see.
