Editors' Review

Acronis True Image lets you back up your PC thoroughly, preserving a complete image of your entire system in the cloud or on a local drive. With this comprehensive application, you'll never have to worry about losing any of your files, and if something goes wrong, you can restore your computer right back to the way it was.

Backup options: Acronis True Image gives you multiple options for backing up, including the ability to store your backup on a local drive or in the cloud. You can choose to back up your entire system or only certain files and folders. And once you've created your initial complete backup, True Image will create continuous incremental backups to record only items that have changed, which saves both time and storage space.

Time Explorer: When you restore, you can, of course, opt to restore the most recent version of your files. But if you would rather restore from an earlier version, you can use the app's Time Explorer feature to go back and locate the past image you want. This can be done for individual files as well as the entire system.

Tough for beginners: The main interface is straightforward enough, and if you stick with the default settings, it will walk you through the basic backup process smoothly. However, there are various advanced options that an inexperienced user could quite easily select by accident, and they are not accompanied by clear explanations of what they will do.

Bottom Line

Acronis True Image is a great way to back up your PC so that you can restore quickly and get back on track. While it may not be the best choice for novice users, anyone with more advanced skills and needs will enjoy the power and flexibility that this program provides. You can try it for free for 30 days, with a free 250GB of cloud storage space. After the trial period, True Image costs $49.99, and the cloud storage plans range from $9.99 per year for 5GB to $99.99 per year for 500GB.

"Rendered 2 New Windows 10 Laptops Unbootable"

November 12, 2015

 |  Version: Acronis True Image 2016 2016 - 1.1

None that I can find currently

Unreliable and renders new computer unbootable

Unable to restore previous computer to new computer. Both had latest Acronis version (2016) and both on Windows 10. After the restore the new laptop wouldn't boot - the error read that I needed to install an operating system?!? So I exchanged the laptop for another new one and it did it again. After 4 hours on the phone with the technician he couldn't fix it - told me he would call me back but didn't. If they can't fix their own products... Took the unbootable laptop to Geek Squad who worked on it for over an hour. They said it could be fixed but would take 3 days and $150 - to restore it to it's factory condition. Don't expose yourself to this nightmare - pass on Acronis... at least for Windows 10. I never had any problems int he past 3 years until now.

"The worst of all previous versions."

October 22, 2015  |  By nttrade

 |  Version: Acronis True Image 2016 2016 - 1.1

None, it's not working on my Windows 10.

Only 30 days Tech Support and no help on line. I wish I could go back to
ATI 2015 it was much better.

I would not buy this program again. I have been using it since 2013. Tech support just expired 12 days ago an they did not wanted to help me. I cannot use it anymore, does not work properly my backups disappear form the menu.

"Bloated, does not work, lost backup, no support"

October 10, 2015  |  By JBB100

 |  Version: Acronis True Image 2016 2016 - 1.1

Acronis ATI has a lot of features and options. However, it is extremely difficult to configure correctly. Ask yourself why there is 161 pages of user manual, not including the installation guide, hundreds of support pages, and videos.

Words cannot express my pain. Dozen of hours reading poorly written manuals, backups constantly failing, validation issues, and when my data drive actually did fail two days ago (with 1.2TB of data), I try to restore but get error messages: "there are no versions of the backup" even though I can see the data on the backup drive. Another 10 hours re-reading all the documentation and support pages to no avail. The final straw was when I found out that I have to pay for technical support and it can take three days to get a response!

Software is garbage, no support, and you risk losing your entire backup!
