Another variation on the tried-and-true breakout game, this program stands out due to its high level of customization. In terms of gameplay, Acky's XP Breakout doesn't deviate from the formula, with one exception: If you miss a ball, you can create a new one, if you have enough ether remaining. The program offers plenty of brick types and power-up twists. That said, we found this game quite addictive. You can change controls from the keyboard to the mouse, redefine control keys, reset graphics to a lower level, switch between full-screen and window modes, enable power-item morphing, and alter the music and volume. You'll also find a level editor in case you master all the predesigned ones, another nice touch. The graphics are attractive and colorful, and the soundtrack gives you a kick. We think this game will please any fan of the breakout genre.

Engage in 150 levels with 80 brick types, and collect all 26 unique power items. Gameplay is always changing, with a dynamic mesh of particle effects, point bonuses, and object morphing. Enjoy enhanced gameplay with XP mode, and customize the game with many options. The goal is simple. Destroy all the bricks in each level to proceed to the next. Along the way you will receive many power items to help you. Acky's XP Breakout is quite different than most games in the ball-and-paddle genre, however. Instead of having a set number of balls, you have two resources, each called ether, which are needed to create a ball. While playing you will see each kind of ether drop, and if you catch one with your space pad, your ether tanks fill up, allowing you to create more balls. The game also features bonuses, online ranking, trophies, and a full sound track<.

Version 2.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
