This software quickly searches for files using different filter options, though network file searching is impossible. The program's plain interface is easy to understand for all user levels, as it is similar to the search tool installed in Windows. Ace File Search rapidly finds files and folders using common search criteria such as filename; date created, modified, or last accessed; and size. Despite restricting network lookup, this tool allows tracking in My Computer and all disks and folders contained within. For faster location, this search tool enables exploration on specified folders and user-defined attributes such as read-only, hidden, and normal files. Although tagged as a file-searching program, it also allows online searches on Google, Yahoo, MSN, and AltaVista search engines. Pros
Pro: Good concept. Simple interface. Has potential. The best thing about Ace File Search is the search parameters. How many of us remember the Browser Wars before Google? I swear there were better search engines that, for whatever reason didn't make the cut. When you can search using 4 seperate "And/Or/Not" search fields you are adding years to your life otherwise spent refining through Microsoft or Google one search field option. So it was shear pleasure using right there.
Cons
Con: Index on the fly is ok for some but not for me-- the search is really slooooow. Window's own search engine is just as fast.
Add a "More/Less Like" search refining option, a master indexing and a command-line field (instant search, like Launchy), and change the look and feel of the engine (it's too sanitary). Your search paramaters alone set you apart from Copernic.
