  Accepts many, but not all, common video formats and converts them to .AMV format in a reasonable time and quality good enough for small video player.

  MacAfee reports (apparently false) positives for Trojans.

  Summary

  The package is probably the best if not only suitable free tool for converting common video file into the .AMV format for use on MP3/Video players. This download installs "AMV Studio, not just the converter. The "Studio" is really a shell that calls various other modules including a video player, light weight editor and format converter. All seemed stable although I was primarily interested in .AMV conversion so that is my primary experience. The biggest flaw is MacAfee Virus Scan doesn't like the "About.exe" module. It says it contains the Trojan "Generic PuP.x". I ran Malwarebytes, Combofix, even Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and none found anything after installing and running AMV Converter. I have concluded this is a false positive and I don't take this kind of stuff lightly. I would recommend deleting "?.\MMBPlayer\about.exe" manually if you don't run MacAfee just to be safe. As I previously said The "Studio" installs and opens other .exe programs. It's only the About.exe which is opened when you click the "about" button that bothers MacAfee. MacAfee zaps it immediately and since it's pretty useless anyway who cares, everything else works fine. The "Studio" tries to install the about.exe every time you open it so I just created a shortcut to the "AMV Converter.exe" do my conversion and skip the "Studio" part avoiding the whole MacAfee problem and the sales pitch splash screen too.

  It didn't play any of my amv files properly, sometimes they started for a few seconds, then came up with a "hello" message and then went back to the start

  I very much like the interface, and I like the VERY simple and logical explanations. The author is my kinda guy in designing something you can use in minutes without jargon.

  Cons

  Several serious problems: The help button does not work. The software website is off line and no longer supports this program. Going to the new version takes you to a known spyware site that trys to plant software "to support the program."

  Summary

  I was unable to resize output to fit my screen. Can this be fixed? Hard to tell when the help button does not work. This program looks wonderful, and ALMOST works! Had the author not connected himself with a spyware scheme to pay for his work, it could be a treasure. He says that the spyware can be removed if you choose, but I'd rather not go near it. Keep on coding! You rock, but just charge a few bucks instead of messing with spyware. I was coding at 15 too... :-)

  Great converter, too many people are trying to get waaay too much out of the program..want to convert avi, mpg to AVM perfect, can't switch from .mov, guess what don't download that version, there are always multiple choices..can't convert a music file guess what..USE A MUSIC FILE CONVERTER THEN!! ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE MOVING THE FINISHED FILES TO PLAYER..YOU CAN ONLY DRAG ONE FILE AT A TIME!! AND MAKE MULTIPLE FOLDERS TO PUT THEM IN, MAYBE 10 VIDEOS PER FOLDER! AND FOR NOW ONLY THE 96*64 ON LOW FRAME RATE SEEM TO WORK THE BEST EVERY TIME. DO THAT AND NO PROBLEMS.
