Publisher's Description
From AKVIS:
AKVIS Enhancer is an image enhancement program. It improves detail on an image, no matter what was the cause of the unsharpness. Enhancer detects detail in underexposed, overexposed and mid tone areas of a photo with uneven exposure. The tool also brings into focus blurred images. AKVIS Enhancer offers three modes of working: Enhancer, Focus, HDR.
The Enhancer and HDR modes are useful in cases when a photo has an uneven exposure. For example, when a picture has been taken with the background overexposed and consequently the foreground is hardly discernible, which is especially annoying when you take a picture of a person; or when a photo lacks dramatic effect due to vagueness of the scene. The tool is useful not only for correction of family photographs, it can be also effective in technical use. Publishers apply Enhancer to show equipment illustrations in detail; in medicine Enhancer is used for increasing the level of detail on roentgenograms. What's new in this version: Version 12.0 has added new Image Processing Mode and other important changes.

"Did not work or even uninstall"
Version: AKVIS Enhancer 7
Cons
There is no uninstall function in the start menu or "add/remove programs".
The photoshop plugin said it was expired even though I downloaded and used it straight away.

"Total trash!"
Version: AKVIS Enhancer 7.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I never jump in the fray, comment on a new software. When I try one and find it is is poor product, rather than make a big deal about it, I tell the company involved what I think, and toss their product in the trash. Not this time. Why (you ask)? Because, in my 20+ years of working with software, this is one of the top 5 worst I have come across! I have worked with HDR for several years, and whenever a new HDR software is introduced, anxious I am to give it a try, which is what I did with AKVIS ENHANCER. Both the ENHANCE plugin and stand alone have very crude controls, provide poor documentation, and generate a very rough output, but what really caught my attention was the fact it produces an 8 bit output from 16 bit input...don't waste your time with this rubbish! If it's (QUALITY!) HDR software you want, go to http://www.hdrsoft.com and download PHOTOMATIX PRO (both plugin and stand alone). The differance between PHOTOMATIX and ENHANCE is not unlike that between a new Ferrari F-40 and a '56 Volkswagon (without wheels)! With regards, William Spreadbury
