Editors' reviewThough not perfect, this fascinating space-themed screensaver scores points for its breathtaking design. In 3D Supernova, you watch planets and asteroids gravitate toward a burning star, which eventually explodes in a brilliant display of white light. Graphically, the program is stunning; we particularly liked the way colors seemed to naturally blend in the sky. However, the trial version places a rather large watermark in the middle of the scene, which somewhat obscures the otherwise stunning view. The demo also disables the majority of the feature set, although you can still choose to turn off the mysterious, otherworldly theme music that accompanies the explosion. Despite its negatives, this screensaver's lack of bundled adware means that we can recommend it to astronomy geeks, science fans, or anyone seeking a visual thrill ride.
3D Supernova is a unique space-themed screensaver. A cosmic scene is placed between two stars and a huge black hole. One of the stars is near its end, the star explodes and for a while becomes a supernova. Near the black hole are planets, asteroids and comets traveling through deep space. The camera settings of the screensaver enables the user to specify one of five paths, and the camera speed. You can set your own MP3 file as background music.
