• NOT Free - Watermark in Upper-Left Corner of Vids

  Pros

  The user interface is reasonably intuitive, the video and audio options are easy to tweak to your liking, and best of all, it allows you to adjust the output volume of your video's audio track.

  Cons

  This software is presented here as freeware, but any video you convert has a large watermark sitting in the upper left corner that has the "Total Video Converter" name in one line and the software company's URL in a line beneath it. In order to convert a video watermark-free, you have to shell out $50 for a registration code. So I uninstalled this deception and found another video converter - Any Video Converter - which (so far) is totally free, no strings attached, and though it has no capability for adjusting audio volume, it works well enough. So thank you "Total Video Converter" for wasting half an hour of my finite lifespan in messing with your adware, but why would I want to cough up a Ulysses for something another company is offering for free?

  Summary

  This is not a free video converter. Your converted videos will have a large watermark at the upper left corner unless you pay $49.95 for a registration code. I'm outta here.

  Pros

  Initially is intuitive and user-friendly. Lays out the process from conversion to burning.

  Cons

  After taking almost an hour to convert my youtube videos to MP4, I pressed burn. The program refused to recognize any one of several new DVDs as a DVD! Soon I had 2 burn programs on my screen and not files--they had alll vanished! Then I read about all of the "catches." Apparently the free one won't burn--and if it does, it promises to watermark your videos. After that experience, I'm not about to purchase the program at any price.

  Summary

  An inviting but deceptive program. The free version is full of "gotchas" that will hang up your computer and stop all further progress. Proceed cautiously or not at all. Wondershare appears to be the better deal.

  I need a way to convert wmv videos to mp4 foe use in iMovie. The app work well and is surprisingly very fast.And i also can burn the video to DVD,Highly Recommended!

  Total Video Converter is the best video convert app i have used.It meet all of my needs and convert my video file to iPad video so I can watch them on my iPad. And i love the batch convert function. Fast and convenient.

  Pros

  probably the best conversion program I've used yet. it is great for mp4, but for converting to avi, which i need, this program is fantastic. Better than anything else I have tried so far, and I have tried a lot!
