You will have been asked by your eye doctor to patch one of your childs eyes to improve the vision in the other eye.Developed by an Orthoptist with 30 years experience patching children, Patching Pirate will encourage and motivate your child to patch. Your child can earn gold from patching to buy accessories for their avatar. Mini games will be coming soon.Children thrive on praise and rewards; they will love showing the results of their hard work to family, school friends and their clinician. Plan treats and rewards for your child at agreed times or number of hours of patching.Lazy eye or amblyopia is decreased vision that results from abnormal visual development in infancy and early childhood due to and eye turn or difference of lens strength between the two eyes. This is best treated before 8 years of age. Patching is to improve the vision, not the eye turn.Patching of a childs eye must only be conducted after a full dilated examination by an Ophthalmologist (eye doctor). Never conduct patching yourself as you may damage your childs eyesight. The eye care professional has free access to Patching Pirate; they can sign up and create a profile. The clinician will receive a unique token to give their patients which will allow the app to deliver the patching information to their database. The information will be displayed to show daily patching, total hours and percentage compliance.
