The idea was to produce the rules of golf in an interactive format on a handheld portable device. After years of research to formulate a compatible software for a handheld device, the framework for the programme was completed in 1998. Two and a half years later, with more than 10.000 different screens, 15.000 links and a very small memory footprint of less than one Megabyte, the WinORules product was ready to start its journey to the golf market. In December 1999, Pierre Beretze opened the doors of the new company \"WinORules\" in Braine l\'Alleud, near Brussels in Belgium.
