Windward Technology

George Losey, the author of the software published by Windward Technology is a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Zoology and Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology, University of Hawai'i. He has been programming since the early days of mainframe Fortran, the breakthrough 8080 CPU chip, etc. Most of his work has been in scientific fields in support of his own research on the behavior and ecology of marine animals. More recently this interest has spread to the simulation of cruise ships. Since 1995 he has been lecturing on ships including Celebrity, Crystal, Cunard, Holland American, Norwegian, Silver Seas and Seabourn. After watching the maneuvering of each ship and many discussions with Captains and crew, he took on the multi-year project of programming and publishing cruise ship simulators. It is very much a work in progress as new suggestions arise, new ships are launched and interest spreads among ship and boating aficionados.
