Ropey Ladder

The original Ropey Ladder was a squash ladder, set up in Oxford, UK in 2002 using an Excel spreadsheet. Its owner, Dave Fletcher, soon got tired of running the ladder, and in the absence of any online traditional sports ladders, he set up his own.

The ladder grew quickly to 40 players and, a year later, over 300 games had been played on it. Inspired by how well this simple concept had worked, Dave rewrote the Ropey Ladder so that anyone, anywhere in the world, could start their own sports ladder in a whole range of sports. It was relaunched in 2004 as the Web site you see today.
