autodessys

autodessys, Inc. (automated design systems) is a privately held company. It started informally in January 1989 and was incorporated in January 1990. It is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, USA. autodessys was founded by Chris Yessios, PhD, and David Kropp, who continue to be the company's President/CEO and Senior Vice President for Development, respectively. From the very beginning autodessys aimed at offering advanced 3D modeling technology on personal computers at an affordable price. Such technology previously only existed on large machines and in research laboratories. This aim was partially achieved when the company's flagship product, formZ, was first released in 1991. When formZ arrived in early 1991, it was aimed at serving a community of users who were literally "hungry" for easy to use and powerful 3D modeling tools. At that time, several excellent and affordable renderers were already available. The missing common element was the lack of a powerful modeling engine to complement these programs. The news that a robust modeling package had finally arrived spread quickly, mostly by word of mouth, and formoZ was on its way to become the favorite 3D modeling program of a rapidly growing community of enthusiastic users. autodessys functions on the philosophy of product quality coupled with user satisfaction. It believes in offering solutions, rather than simply tools. Numerous enhancements to formZ are based on suggestions from users who have come to respect the company for its responsiveness to their requests and needs. The goal of autodessys is to continue to offer advanced modeling and design tools at a very affordable cost. In many ways, since its introduction to the market, formZ has educated and shown the design communities what true 3D modeling really is.
