Cotap focuses on bringing group messaging to the corporate environment by letting you chat only with people who have an email address in the same work domain. If you try to use a personal account like iCloud, Gmail or Outlook, you'll be denied access. One neat feature is the ability to automatically create group chats that are extracted from a calendar meeting's attendees.
Modern interface: The app looks and feels good. The clean design and clear instructions make Cotap easy to pick up.
Automatic chatroom creation: If you are attending a calendar meeting with several other people who have the same appointment in their calendar, you can very easily create a chatroom with just those individuals.
Work email with a custom domain required: In order to complete the setup process, you must provide a work email that has a custom domain name and is not coming from a major service provider like Google or Microsoft. You'll also be asked to verify your email address by entering a PIN number.
Cannot schedule calendar meetings within the app: Even though you can start a conversation from an existing calendar event, there is no way to attach a calendar event to the group chat you're currently in.
General app instability: While testing, we experienced two crashes, which returned us to the home screen.
Cotap focuses mainly on medium to big businesses. If you're a small enterprise, and you don't have work emails, there is no straightforward way to have the app work for you. Likewise, if you're not scheduling your appointments and meetings digitally, you won't be able to experience one of the better features of the app.
