The number of adults with diabetes worldwide has more than doubled since 1980 to 347 million. It is estimated to be four times as common as all forms of cancer combined.In the US, 25.8 million people (8.3% of the population) have diabetes. Of these, 7.0 million have undiagnosed diabetes. In 2010, about 1.9 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 years or older.Some 2.8m people in the UK have been diagnosed with diabetes and an estimated 850,000 more probably have type 2 diabetes but don't yet know.
