The AutoText feature in word-processing programs can be extraordinarily helpful for people who live at their keyboards. ShortKeys helps layer this autoreplace functionality on top of any program in which text is typed. It can automatically replace abbreviations with preset text; thus, a user might set tqb to be converted into The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog, if that's an oft-used expression. It can also automatically insert the current date, and contains a basic spell-checking tool. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer the helpful ready-made shortcuts Microsoft Word or other word processors often include. The utility has a fairly substantial memory footprint of 10MB, but for people who do considerable amounts of repetitive typing, it could quickly become an invaluable time- and finger-saver.

Pros
This is a must have program. I really, really, really miss it when I use someone else's computer. Easy to use once it's set up. You will forget it's not part of the operating system because it should be.
Cons
This version doesn't work in every program like the old one did. It has disappeared from the "running" toolbar so in order to open it to edit, I will have to restart my computer. It will not open from the start menu because it is already running.
Summary
It's fine for a free program. I would pay if I could get the old version back. Lost it when I had to get a new computer.

Pros
holds many macs. I am a tournament host for online gaming and I am able to have all game rules stored so all I have to do is type ##gamename (how I set it) and sit back.
Cons
waiting for mac to complkete b4 moving on, and no stop.
Summary
Awesome program for gaming host, well worth the price!! the only downfalls are 2: You absolutely have to sit on your hands while it is typing mac, or it will move with you. Would think program could be changed that once activated the mac would initialize for completion and you could continue with other tasks. Also needs a stop feature so when u type wrong code u can stop it.
One of the BEST! Can't beat simplicity and convenience!

Pros
Simple interface, reliable when used in "Start with Windows" option. Tired of signing in to 30 different website using the same username? Make a simple "##signin" entry. Make a simple "##email" entry. Will save countless keystrokes!
Cons
Addictive. Too tempting to use as password manager. DON'T! Program is so efficient, one will want it on all personal computers. Company should offer discount on more than one license. Should offer "hide entries" option while retaining functionality.
Summary
Truly a useful program and well worth paying for. However, do not succumb to temptation to use as a password manager (particularly on a laptop. If one's laptop is stolen, everything is compromised!) Program is so useful one will begin to automatically type in activating codes even while using public computers on which program is not installed!
That goes the same for me...can't live without it

I make the words of the other users comments ...but supose this... <p>only now you can make a full image of your hard drive in safety... <p>but before that i have to rely on shortkeys to keep the serial numbers of all programs when i have no other option than to re-instal...it was wonderfut ll <p> <p>Even know it's impossible to make a clean image without forgeting something..or to re-setup the emails accounts...there's always something you forgot when you make the image...so the shortkeys helps what you forgot in the image... <p> <p>The editor gives the example of words abrev...but it gives you more...you can setup a full letter or different letters...imagine you have a CALL CENTER besides the ivr you have emails to answer ...clients ask you all the time the same questions and you can setup throw the shortkeys ALL THE SAME ANSWERS... in a second... <p> <p>It helped a great deal when i was a simple student and now helps me as a entrepreneur...it's unbelievable! trust me

Since the begining this program as always the same problem... sometimes without any cause...it just stops to work! i asked a reason i they reply me it was a memory problem... it just need to press CTRL key...but that don't solve the problem.You have to close Shortkeys and re-open again...but right now it seems it is more stable...
