Scorched 3D is a modernization of the classic DOS game Scorched Earth "The Mother Of All Games" on which it is based. Scorched 3D incorporates a lively three dimensional landscape that includes animated jets, naval vessels, water, and even birds, in addition to detailed tanks and projectiles. Other enhancements include LAN and internet play and music. Scorched 3D is a simple turn-based artillery game and also a real time strategy game in which players can counter each others weapons with other creative accessories, shields and tactics. Learn skill in timing, aiming and judgment, move around on the landscape, or even out-smart your opponent economically. Learning how to play is easy, just point the turret, adjust power and trajectory, select a weapon, and shoot.

Summary
This game is nearly 12 years old, yet has been constantly updated with new features and game-play mechanics. The developer spends a lot of his time listening to the community, and is currently working on creating a new engine. This will bring Scorched 3D up to par with modern HD games, and offer a new play experience. The community is great, they live and learn from one another, and help you get better at the game! The game is great, and addicting. I cannot wait to see more players in the servers. :)

intriguing, I actually considered by a much faster machine just so I could play the game

lack of info for minimum system requirements, PC running at 2.8gh is too slow, only geeks and experts could get their opengl or mesa to work properly or maybe my I did that and my PC is just too slow

it has ganied some pros like the improved frame rate but other than that,pretty simple.... solid 3d for a free game ,good customization,and online just expands its gameplay even more

poor campaign with no special plot,with the mods being so hard to download and install the online is almost utterly useless,the name could use some sprucing up cause tanks cant scorch anything .it just blow things up.

i think this games is a pretty balanced game even though im picky at most free games,it escaped the rather medicore old scorched(i dont know why they have to name it that way i mean come one name one tank that has a flamethrower)and it atleast has some improvements but for newcomes dont think that this is going to be your dream cause of the poor campaign (see"cons")

This game is so much fun. It's easy to get into and you could easily be playing for an hour. It's also fun to crank up the amount of AI's and watch the armada of missles flying across the screen :).
