The most advanced virtual desktop program
Paranoid Opressor- Pros
- Cons
- Summary
- This program is much more advanced than most of the "virtual desktop" applications. It is very customizable and you can set up exactly as you like, but this might take some time and the documentation is "not perfect". The program creates one large virtual desktop where you can freely scroll, move your windows around, etc. The display serves as a view onto this large desktop. This is unlike most programs where all virtual desktops are separate "pages". You can have a lot of control over how thó scrolling and switching works, for example, you can scroll it by moving mouse to the edges, or by keyboard shortcuts, or by dragging the view over "Toolwin" window. And each option can be customized exactly to your liking. It also has some support for multiple monitors. A minor issue is that there is no smooth 2D-accelerated scroll, so if you use mouse scrolling, there might be (depending on your settings) visible redrawing going on as you move the desktop. Another issue is that you can't control icons and the wallpaper - they remain in a stationary position. There are also some other minor annoyances, but they are more than compensated by the sheer power of SDesk. If you want a "powerful instrument in controlling your productivity", get SDesk! :)
Good Program
- Pros
- Cons
- Summary
- Good solid code; has never caused any system problems or "lost windows" as other virtual desktops I have tried. Primarily driven by keyboard shortcuts you can customize. You will quickly get the hang of it as the maintenance interface is very simple to use. A great program if you need a lot of desktop space.
One of the best multiple desktop programs for Windows I've ever seen.
- Pros
- Cons
- Summary
- It has practically everything I expected from such a program. If you need bunches of open windows at your work, you can easily group and orherwise organise them with this tool. It's small, efficient, very flexible and quite stable (unlike many others alike), and especially it provides the necessary utilities for changing between desktops very quickly. It's maybe not too easy to use for unexperienced users, but if you use a computer at your job it will be intuitive enough to figure out everything in seconds.
great program

- Summary
- This program does what it says. It is small and easy to install. You just drag the executable from the zip file. Worth giving it a try. I have never seen a program like this and I really like it so far.
Takes to much system resources even from P4 system
- Pros
- Cons
- Summary
- Takes to much system resources from my pc. Much harder to setup and use then others. There are much better programs to create effect of Linux multi desktop. In my opinion Multi desktop 2003 is much better performance and ease of use wise.Much harder to setup and use then others. There are much better programs to create effect of Linux multi desktop. Excellent program

- Summary
- Although one will have to puzzle a bit to figure out how to operate the many options this nifty little program has, SDesk is much more flexible and stable than many other desktop 'enhancers'. Anyone who sees the practical use of having a larger (or several) desktop(s), should also be smart enought to understand how he/she should set up SDesk.
too many bugs

Does what it says...

- Summary
- Excuse me if this is a repost, got an error last time... The documentation is pretty bad, but mentions that it is one of the things the author hopes to improve in later releases. The other thing that needs improvement is the "actions" setup (grouping would be nice). But, all in all, the program offers many features to do just what it advertises: Create a giant desktop and ease movement around it. After getting through the docs, I created many hotkeys, got the mouse-follow doing what I want, and now I've got a 9216x3456 desktop. It's worth fighting through the docs and setup (which really isn't all that hard to figure out, just sometimes the names of "actions" aren't intuitive to what I'm looking for) to get sdesk doing what you want.
Messy program

- Free, yes, but also very alternative.
