RealPlayer SP for Mac is a free media player that comes close to mimicking the features and interface of its Windows cousin. While many users can get by with the bevy of other excellent free media players available for the Mac, RealPlayer SP does offer some nice extras in an integrated interface, such as the ability to download streaming video through a companion app (the RealPlayer Downloader) and modify it for specific outputs or devices with another companion app (the RealPlayer Converter). If you also install the RealPlayer Download Agent, the RealPlayer Downloader will automatically detect when you're streaming DRM-free video (such as from YouTube) in your browser that can be downloaded — and you can then download, share, convert, or copy the video to iTunes.

Pros
For quite a long time the download of videos did not work but now in Sept. 2010 they have finally fixed the bug. A new version 12.0.1 is on their homepage. This is the only application that downloads and plays flash-videos in a deacent way.

The browser is too primitive to be usable.

Works some sites..the preferences often do not result in it opening as it ought so requires occasional starting app each time to get it to help for downloading. It used to be flawless now a C- . Does not work on YouTube any longer..One gets a series of small clutter files and not the Flv.

Prompted on Free software-downloaded 03 times-but does not D/load a single video file; It did once then blinked on next demand of DL; It is a low grade trick perhaps to seek payment for up grading but looking at the behave of `Free' did not feel like-upgrading

well..hmmm...the player and converter work so long as one converts just a few at a time for otherwise it crashes or the conversion stops midstream. If the site permits downloader to work, it mostly does so..if you really want it to work however get iSKY EXTENSIONS and then the downloader works! no kidding...I discovered this oddity as the extension does link to the downloader from Real also.

Downloader is nonfuncitonal on many sites but see the pros to get it to work.
