Sometimes simple games offer the most pleasure. In Pookie and Tushka's Ice Toss Frenzy, you control Tushka, a bear who must throw ice cubes across the river to his penguin friend Pookie, who assembles the cubes into an igloo. Floating ice chunks interfere with your tosses. Some chunks contain pianos or drums, which Pookie can recover if you hit them with a cube. Tushka slides a little bit when you move him across the ice floe with the arrow keys, and you have to wait a second for Pookie to catch up.
You can play with or without monsters. We had no problem zipping through all nine levels on monster-free mode. When we played with monsters, though, the time limit took its toll. The ZIP file contains the game executable itself, so remember where you unzip it. The graphics have a wonderful pastel storybook feel, which will make you forget you can't maximize the window. The commercial tie-ins were as cute as the game, so we didn't mind them much. If you want to spend a gentle hour or two, try Pookie and Tushka's Ice Toss Frenzy.
