Cons
Happened to stumble across this from a discreet review. Qoppa needs help getting this app well known!
Summary
Awesome - solved my OCR in linux problem
mast231
Pros
One of the things that was preventing me to switch to open-source Linux (read Ubuntu) full time was the lack of a reliable OCR program. This solves it beautifully. All other features of Adobe Acrobat available here (as far as I can see)
Cons
At first I had to use SimpleScan / XScan to scan from my multipurpose HP and then read the .pdf in PDF Studio, but then my son helped me figure out how to get sane daemon working in ubuntu and now I can scan directly into PDF Studio. For most people this should not be a problem as they can scan with XScan / Simplescan - save as pdf and do the job perfectly fine.
Summary
fantastic PDF suite for all platforms
sonenthal
Pros
Runs great on windows 7 and Mac
Allows multi-language OCR
Supports all three levels of security for RC4 and 128/256 AES
Has all the PDF editing tools that you will need.
Cons
Not sure if this is an issue, need to install java 6.1 to run version 8 on the mac. May not be an con.
Summary
Love the dual platform support! Does everything and does it well.
Excellent program!
Israel_cma
Pros
It is multi-platform and uses just few resources.
Cons
It's not free
Summary
PDF Studio is and excellent alternative to the heavy Adobe Acrobat, without losing functionality.
Great if you need advanced PDF functionality
xraydoug
Pros
Extensive set of annotation and markup tools, well-designed and easily accessible. For my own uses, one of the most important that is not commonly found is adding scaled lines (like measuring scaled distances on an architectural plan), which this does very well.
Cons
Does not respond to many common trackpad gestures (zoom, shrink, for example)
Summary
Overall a very nice alternative to the bloated Adobe product when you need advanced PDF functionality on the Mac, especially if you need to measure scaled distances.
An excellent PDF editor for Linux and Windows
coolrat33
Pros
Allows full editing of PDFs in Linux including highlighting and notes.
Can be used in Linux and Windows so if you switch between two OS, you can continue to use PDF Studio with the same license.
Reasonable cost.
Cons
- does not yet have OCR ability built in like Adobe Acrobat Professional
- the selection of text is not as slick as in Adobe Acrobat Pro. In PDF Studio, when you copy and paste text from PDFs, the formatting is not preserved. A minor quibble for me.
Summary
I've used PDF Studio for 4 years and have been very pleased with its performance. Recent versions are substantially better than earlier versions. It was, and perhaps still is, the only PDF editing tool for Linux that allows full editing of PDFs.
Great for a student
dutch025
Pros
Simplicity (how's that for keeping it simple)
Cons
For a student, it's a bit pricey, especially if you want to use it on a few computers.
Summary
I've been using Skim for mac and don't really like it. This program offers all that you need to notate documents you need to review and it works easily and fast enough to note while listening to a lecture.
Does almost everything adobe does for ALOT cheaper
rbachner
Pros
nice for deleting pages, extracting, merging, highlighting pdfs
Cons
just cannot correct existing text
Summary
Great product, at fraction of cost of Adob
Fantastic Product!!!

Pros
My favorite part about PDF studio is the easiness of the product.. every imaginable tool is easily accessed and used.
Cons
Not very many cons.. maybe the icon could be improved :-P
Summary
Perfect affordable PDF Editor for Mac Users
Takeoffthe5
Pros
I created a document in word and needed to create a PDF with the internal links still intact. Didn't want to splurge on Acrobat so needed an affordable alternative. PDF Studio was quite user friendly and allowed me to add my links back into my PDF.
Cons
Takes a little while to familiarize oneself with the toolbar.
Summary
I've tried a couple different demo versions of PDF Editors for Mac, and this one seemed to give me the most flexibility. It has tons of features and allowed me to add internal links into my documents. I especially liked how I could change the border color of my internal links very easily so that I could hide the link boxes by giving them a white border. The other programs I tried, like PDFPen, weren't quite as easy to use and didn't give me these extra options. Bottom line, I think that PDF Studio is the best bang for your buck as a Mac User.
