This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I had to go back to an older Mac to scan my slides. This workes flowless. However, the userinterface is not very intuitive. Nikon should have a look on people working with there Nikon Scan software.
The scanner itself is well built and does an excellent job. What a pitty, that the software lacks behind it.
Payed a lot and there is not upgrade to Intel macs

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
great scanner shame about the neglected support for the software. Since upgrading to Intel Mac this piece of software is of no use. Crashes in CS 2 and crashes as stand alone. I sit here with two options for out with a lot of cash for a 3rd party ! or buy a new scanner (I have a LS8000ED and my next will NOT be Nikon) arghhhh. I remember having to wait a lonnnnnggg time for Nikon to make a OSX compatible version and now...they can not follow. Also their Amiga look Nikon View is laughable.
Very unstable software

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This software frequently unexpectedly quits. It also hangs during scans etc. I have had to delete the preferences about 3 times to get it working so far. Oddly, whenever I use Nikon Scan my Mail Preferences becomes corrupt too, yet this never seems to happen at other times.
Maybe just mislabeled?

Seems to run OK on my G5 1.8DP

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Finally Nikon has made a software that works on OS X (Panther 10.3.3 in my case). This version feels like it did in OS 9 with my Super CoolScan 4000. It's as fast and responsive as it was back then. The strange lines are also gone in the scans which occured in Nikon Scan version 3. I'm also able to use the automounter SF-200 without any problems. Nikon you made me a happy scanner! Thanks!!!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I downloaded it yesterday. I also had to download 4.0.0. The 4.0.0 seemed to hangup during installation, but it appears to be completed. The 4.0.1 installed just fine.
Slide scanning works well and seems faster. No problems.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The software has worked faultlessly as I scan my way through years of Kodachrome slides. It does cause the fan on my 15inch PB to kick in now and again as it does use all the processing power it can lay its hands on. I like it, it is doing for me what I want it to do.
Painful...

Painful...
Nikon is a great camera/scanner builder, but a very poor software producer on Macintosh.
This is typicaly a Windows platform software (very good on it), optimized for Windows, with fewest modifications for Macintosh platform.
Still get vertical lines in scans!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
When will Nikon update this lousy software? My Super Coolscan LS4000 ED is almost worthless as it is now. I still get vertical lines in 60-70% of all scans I make, which also makes my SF-200 autofeeder useless. I have deleted all Vuescan and Silverfast files on my hd, but it still produces annoying lines on the scans. It has gone 6 months since this software was updated and Nikon still hasn't been able to solve this bug......come on Nikon, get your sh..t together!!! I just hope that someone at Nikon reads VT and get the point! I'm on OS 10.2.6 if they do read this review.
