A feature-rich screencasting application, Mac Screen Recorder Studio offers reliable screen capturing and video editing functions through an easy-to-use interface. It can help you make video tutorials, training videos, demonstrations, and presentations.
Full-featured video software tool: Mac Screen Record Studio acts as a full-fledged video software that does not only record your Mac's screen or videos captured with your computer's camera, but also edits video files saved on your hard drive.
Clean interface: The compact interface makes it easy for you to access different functions without having to dig down into menus or tabs. You will see one full window that has everything neatly presented, a movable "sidebar" that bears the "Record" button, and the video and audio sequence pane at the bottom.
Great video format support: This application can export MP4, 3GP, H.264, MOV, iMovie, DV, iDVD, QuickTime, as well as MP3 with no images or video. You can customize and save your export settings.
Color and lighting control: You can adjust both lighting and colors to make your videos more appealing.
Not free: The trial version puts a "Demo Version" watermark on your output video. You have to shell out some $50 to get rid of the watermark.
No updates since 2012: It's a big issue considering that this is a paid app.
Despite not having been updated in a long time, Mac Screen Recorder Studio remains a great screencasting and video editing application. It's easy to use and provides a wide variety of functions, though video editing is only basic. Is it worth downloading? Yes, but know that there are free applications that provide about the same functionality, including Snapz Pro X and Screenium.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Mac Screen Recorder Studio for Mac 2.2.
